I haven't completely decided if I wanna switch or not :B I have nearly 300 watchers now but.... I don't like having numbers at the end of my username and Silvermoon is also rather.... overused?

Anyway on DA I was able to change my username to LadySilvie which alludes to my first online artist name, Dragon-Princess-Sam (made as like a 6th grader, so x'D) and to Silvie of course :3 I figured while the username's available I might as well nab it so my name can be the same in both places x3

Negativity doesn't suit my style xD For those of you who read my last journal (if you really care to you can go back and read it but don't bother commenting there again), I have the results of the situation...


I have decided to accept my Frankein-teal-mobile's fate and bid him farewell. He was a fantastic car but..... he's only valued at $1300 even after the thousands of dollars we put out for a new engine, new tires, new seatbelts, etc etc. This new gas tank would cost a minimum of $1000. All the ones online were either the wrong model, Canadian, or otherwise unusable for our situation.

SO. ANYWAY.

We're taking out a loan and I'm getting a new car. Since my family hated my car to begin with, they're ridiculously excited. And the car salesplace is giving us $1500 for my car since we're old family friends, so that's not bad. But.......the car my parents are ridiculously excited about getting? A VW bug.




THIS MEANS WHEN I DRIVE BY, PEOPLE WILL HIT EACHOTHER. Fufufu.

I might celebrate/honor my teal-mobile's passing by circling the neighborhood and watching. :'3

So I usually avoid posting rant-journals.... but I'm so PO'd right now and it'll affect my art so I figured that I might as well inform y'all.


I have this awesome and fantastic car (a beautiful teal 95 Ford Escort) that I learned to drive in at age 12 on my grandparents' farm. I was too young to drive but my legally blind grandma still wanted to drive to church and frankly I was better at it than she was, haha. So I spent 3 years driving this car for grandma on country roads up until I was legally old enough to drive...... and for my birthday, I was given this car.

Really, it was a junker that no one in the family wanted (I was the only one that drove it in those 3 years) and was bright teal so my male cousins didn't want it, so they gave it to me rather than junking it. Everyone in the family hated that car and I was positively enamored with it.......... even though I detest cars/driving. So I took the teal-mobile (as everyone dubbed it) and used it for another 3 years, until it kind of died from being so old and such.

My grandpa wanted to buy me a new car for graduation but I refused because I only liked THIS car, and I was paranoid about driving safely in it and such so that I'd never been in an accident or anything and it'd last longer. So dad and me and the other people in my family worked to basically rebuild this car from the inside, and it worked like new. New AC (that worked!), new engine, new tires, new paint, EVERYTHING. It was then dubbed the Frankein-Teal-Mobile because it was made up of junkyard parts, haha.



So about 2 years ago I was sitting at a red light and a texting-and-driving person rear-ended me, messing up my bumper but causing no other damage. I was SO PISSED. I am paranoid about driving safely, like I said, and I'd never been that person to screw up her first car by getting into a stupid wreck. But this texter did it! GRR. Anyway, we ended up getting some compensation from him and I chose not to fix the bumper, because the pretty teal color of my car was apparently unique enough it'd be almost impossible to match on a bumper........ I didn't want to be one of those people with a mismatched-looking car >.< Especially when it was no fault of my own that it got messed up in the first place.



So I've been driving this car that works like new for the past 2 years..... and lo and behold, on the same road, at the same intersection as before, coming home from a community service opportunity, I was rear-ended by another person who wasn't paying attention. She fully admitted it was her fault and gave me her insurance info, and after I examined my car, I saw that it hit the exact place as my last rear-ended things. Only an extra dent and no other issues.

As I am 18 and going off to college in a month, my parents decided that I needed to handle this one on my own. My police officer father told me I had 3 options, to let it slide since it didn't do any more damage than the last accident so the money I got from the last one could just take care of it (if we found the right paint), I could call her insurance and let them deal with it, or I could work out a deal with her.

Looking at my car and being told over and over again that it was my choice, I decided that I'd be nice and let it go. I love my car and figured that even with a few dents on the back, since it was still perfectly running, it was no issue to me. I wouldn't put another college student through the issue for money. So I didn't contact her insurance or anything.




SO, HERE WE ARE 3 MONTHS LATER. A neighbor came over and said my car smelled like gas, and we go out to find that, hey, it turns out, in that accident, my fuel tank was broken. Awesome. It's too late to contact insurance about it. Even better. And now my mother is PISSED OFF at me for not having gone to her insurance and everything, and keeps saying it's my fault that (since 95 escorts don't have metal tanks that can be replaced) my car will probably have to be junked.

The car I've worked SO hard to make sure nothing happened to, unusable because I was too nice to get someone else into trouble.



Now I have to somehow get the money for a new car that I can use to drive myself to college in 1 month. So, I'll be taking a lot of commissions to try and scrounge up something. I actually have my last day of work (since I'll be moving) in 2 weeks, so that won't be any help at all.


FML.










Moral of the story: DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE, DON'T HIT SILVIE WHEN DRIVING, and DON'T BOTHER BEING NICE. Grr.

Oh, and buy art from Silvie. Yeah. Please x'3

You've got the opposite of artists' block, and your little creative muse is clambering all over you like a little demon chirping fantastic ideas and inspiration to work and such......but your wrist hurts from working on a drawing earlier in the day (carpal tunnel syndrome runs in your family) and you shouldn't be drawing for the rest of the evening >.<

NOTE: They've been updated! I had to raise my prices a little or else my mother doesn't consider it worth my time.... so yeah. But they've only been rounded up by a few dollars, so it's not too bad.

Though I'm still busy, it's winding to a close.... kinda.

In the past two months, I gave my senior exhibition (an hour-long presentation on a topic of my choice to a panel of judges that determined whether or not I'd graduate with honors (I scored a 97! Shiny gold honor chord at graduation ftw)), I've published two school newspapers (the last ones I will be editor-in-chief of), competed in the Journalism State competition as a cartoonist (won first for my on-site editorial cartoon, and then all my carry-in cartoons also placed!), went to the state capitol to be awarded the 2012 Outstanding Youth Prevention Award and a resolution from our HoR, and have been able to finish up most of my AP Art projects.


Also, my ex and I are now enemies. Sadness. I learned that he's been waving my art about in school and saying how badly it sucks compared to his and how I never draw humans and only furries because that's all I CAN draw (even though I've drawn more humans in AP Art than I have furries in general since the new year).... and he said jerkish things to me. I have considered deleting all the art I made of he and I since he obviously 'hates' my art and I don't particularly care for it since it's mostly old junk anyway.... but if you all still want it I'll leave it up. I have a wonderful mate now so it doesn't upset me to see the art of my ex and my characters, but it's a little annoying when people comment on it and say how cute of a couple we were >.>' I can put up with it for the sake of art if y'all still wanna see it though C:




Apart from that, I also have exactly one month minus one day until I graduate high school. FIINALLY. I found out what dorm I'll be living in next year today, and it got me ridiculously excited.


Now that school should be slowing down (after my 3 AP Tests and one more newspaper).... I should be getting back to doing my own art (and commissions)!


I will be taking summer classes and doing volunteer work and actual work this summer, but after 8 PM each day I should be free(ish) to draw :DDD And  robert_varulfur will be gone for a field school trip, so I won't have him to distract me from art xD (But that means you'll have to expect lots more mushy art from me while he's gone since I'll be missing him.... but most of you have said you like that sort of stuff so I'll probably post most of it.)

That's why there's been an influx of art. I'm trying to catch up on AP Art homework (mom hasn't been letting me draw much lately so I'm behind) and punctuating it with mind-cleansing personal art.


I hope to be able to do a few commissions later this week..... if I get the chance. No guarantees though since I have my senior exhibition project to finish... that's a 45 minute presentation titled 'Marijuana Legalization, Decriminalization and its Effect on Youth" that I'll be giving in front of a panel of judges and an audience, and my entire honors diploma will be based on whether I pass it or not. Sooo much research and so much more to be done X_x


So while I'm scrambling to do both that and scholarship applications (all the 'sure thing' scholarships I've applied for have fallen through, much to my mother's dismay), I'll still be trying to do some art to keep me sane. I am doing regular sketching, which you can find on my tumblr.

2) Cut my hand on something on the outside of my car, I don't know what

3) Fallen UP the stairs, leaving a nice bruise on my chest

and 4) Nearly torn off a claw.


What did I do to fate to tempt it so? ;^;




In other news, if I survive long enough, I'm going to get to visit my wonderful mate  robert_varulfur next weekend for the first time since we became mates.... so expect lots of fluffy happy doodles x'D

I'm Sam, or as most of you know me, Silvie. I'm a senior at a Missouri high school, planning to go to college for Social Work. Oh, and I'm a maned wolf/cougar furry, too, but I'm not interested in the yiffy side of furriness. C: I like art, animals, writing, reading... and I don't like doctors or raccoons or oranges. I spend much of my free time doing youth substance-abuse prevention work, including writing and acting in Public Service Announcements (radio or TV commercials, basically; if you're from the midwestern USA, you might have seen me on tv before!), and doing art/writing-related things for my school's newspaper, which I am Editor-in-Chief of.

I'm working on an essay right now. One of many. But I've come to a spot where I'm stuck and felt like coming online and making a nonsense journal. So viola :D

Random things happening in life/my reactions:


x Thanksgiving Break // I wish it were longer. I didn't get much drawing time... compared to that which I wanted x'D

x My HS football team won state about an hour ago // Yay I guess? The furkey (Turkey/Falcon hybrid created to cheer on the team (the falcons) over thanksgiving break) I drew for them didn't go to waste I guess.

x Hatoful Boyfriend // I probably could have spent more time drawing if I didn't stay up late dating pigeons and laughing my head off. Ask if you really want to know. xD

x Scholarship essays // HATE. PURE, PURE HATE.

x Possible CTS in my right hand // nothanxplz

x Possible Diabetes/low blood sugar // already expected at least the latter, but I have a phobia of shots. Whatever would keep me from getting sick EVERY MORNING would be appreciated, though.


OKAY, I think I've procrastinated enough. Once school starts on Monday I'll disappear again for a while >.> It'll be a stressful week/month.






...Soo this essay I've been working on...... the prompt says that the scholarship committee wants creative or unique essays in particular, but I fear mine may be a bit... too... odd. I just noticed as I'm over halfway through with it that the music that has been playing for the past hour is nothing less than non-stop Nyan Cat. That can't have a positive impact on any essay x'D

School and scholarships are getting the best of my free time. x_x I'll still be coming on every so often to read messages and stuff, but I won't have time to do much non-school related art.


There may be a little every so often, but not at the volume I had been before school started.

Under this law, not only can my journalism teacher NOT contact me (her editor-in-chief) outside of school (I need to be on call like 24/7 to manage the paper), but she can't be friends on facebook with her coworker, my french teacher, because she was a REALLY old student of hers.



There are soooo many better ways to handle this. :/

So my boyfriend finally came back from camp. We had our first date in a month and I showed him all the pretty pictures I drew of him.



And he said that while at camp, he decided that he'd be a furry like me. And hey, he realised, a wolf? That's not the animal he identifies with. He wants to be a lynx, maybe with some random other animal thrown in.


After I spent weeks working on my latest pictures of our characters together that he requested. ;^;



I love him, but I kind of want to strangle him now. x'D

UPDATE -- It IS a troll site. Found that out after reading a few more pages. But that doesn't change my rant, as things like this DO make some people believe them.

My friend brought this website to my attention. I hope this was just designed by trolls, and if it was, I applaud their downright lack of intelligence, because some people I know have believed this crap. The more I look at it, the more rediculously hillarious it is, so I figured you'd enjoy it.

Aside from shouting how goth people are all terrorists that want to worship hitler, they also say that they are closely related to Wicca, which is basically satanism.

WTF PEOPLE.

I studied Wicca for a time, and the people I met were some of the sweetest folk I've talked with. For those in it for the right reasons, Wicca was peaceful, focused on equality and rights for everyone, and all about being a good person to everyone. Definitely not the kind of people that "sacrifice human children to the devil."

And this website isn't the only place that feels this way towards pagans -- even my mother believes that a wiccan sacrificed her puppy when she was younger, though that idiot that did probably used the title wiccan as a scapegoat.

I'm a baptist christian, but I think that all religions that contain some moral are good. Even atheists and other non-believers could be good people -- judge people by their ACTIONS, not their RELIGION. I know a lot of athiests that I'd MUCH rather be friends with than uptight Christian nuttos. And the same for goths -- I was practically a goth in middle school when I went through childhood anxiety and depression, and I don't think that I could even pretend to be a nazi, haha.
Stereotypes do NOT make up the entire population -- the same goes for furries.

I know I'm probably preaching to the choir right now, but GAH.

"So I've been seeing a lot of migration on here lately due to various reasons. I completely understand almost all of it, but it's still a little sad when someone leaves, even if I never particularly got along with that person. I'm not really a vehement FA fan myself, but its upsetting because when they leave FA, they (in the collective sense) tend to disassociate with the fandom itself.

So I propose a day of fanart. Let's be completely honest here, there's a lot of furry filth that we deal with as artists that is just completely unmerited. It's the internet, yadda yadda, whatevs. But how about giving something back? We get to see artwork for FREE, where just a little over a decade ago, good, high quality fur-art was something limited exclusively to private collections.

On August 31st, everyone should pick two of their favorite artists and post some fanart for them.

TLDR;

Rules:
1. Pick two artists. Make fanart by Aug 31st.
2. Keep it clean unless that artist likes art of their character otherwise.
3. Don't be a fanboy. Its not about you. It's not about riding someone else's coattail.
4. If it doesn't look good enough, then try again next year. Whole year of extra practice!
5. If they don't say anything on your piece, move on (or if angry, just stop watching them). Don't dwell. Don't pester.
6. Don't get wierd about this guys.
7. Don't ask for shipping info, just post and share a link. Asking for private details is a no-no."
