Every update I've made has just been more and more bad news. It's getting old, it's getting tired. I'm tired.

My mother called me yesterday to tell me she has cancer.
My step father has terminal cancer and they don't expect him to make it past thanksgiving (canadian so this month).
I've been on standby to go back to Ottawa (5.5 hour drive from where I'm living at the moment) and today I will be doing that. I'm taking my work with me. I have no idea how long I will be gone.
My own health is not great. I have long covid and I've been dealing with chronic migraines, body pain, and weakness since I had covid. I haven't felt this week and lethargic since after having surgery last year.

I've lost track of how many times I've made an update this past year alone where something hasn't been going wrong or actively falling apart. It feels like the world was just ripped out from under me. I haven't even had time to process everything else that has happened to me this year. And things just keep happening. I feel helpless and lost. Everyone around me keeps saying things will get better soon. But I don't think that's in my cards.


As a side note, clients do not hesitate to message me if you have concerns or want updates on your commissions. You are still part of my priorities. You have the right to ask regardless of what I'm going through. But needless to say I appreciate the patience and compassion you have already shown me. My work and your comfort in trusting me with that work are always important to me.

I haven't made an update here in a lot time and I feel like it's way over due especially since a lot has happened in the last month.

Biggest change is I've officially moved. Though my arrangements right now are temporary. I had a huge falling out with my ex. I don't have the energy to go over everything that happened with that because it was really bad but I did post as things were unfolding on my Bluesky if you want to get a better understanding of what happened. The key points were that my landlords allowed me to break the lease without going through the N9 process so I was able to leave immediately. I had to move all of my things over the course of a weekend as well as I had to put my 15 year old husky, Soul, down (this was part of the catalyst that caused me to completely sever from my ex). I'm currently abiut 500km away from where I used to live which is extremely hard but it was my only option. My belongings are spread between here and a friend's place back in my city. This whole fiasco took a lot out of me. I was extremely sick during the move as I'd caught a strep-like (as the doctor put it) virus which leads to pneumonia.

In regards to being sick, I am still sick. I had pneumonia for a month and I'm still fighting off whatever this is even now that the pneumonia has mostly cleared up. Its the second time I've gotten pneumonia this year and it did a number on me. I fractured a rib due to the severity of the coughing and I ended up getting a secondary infection from the virus which in also still fighting. So my health has been worse than it usually is which my baseline is already pretty bad. Currently I'm just doing my best to recover and get back to work fully.

These past two years have been extremely hard in terms of health. As anyone whose followed me for a significant amount of time would know, I've always struggled with my health but things took a particularly bad nosedive. So it's just been difficult navigating that with everything else that's happened.

The move, while emotionally devastating is something that needed to happen. My situation with my ex has been bad for a few years and it's only become more and more toxic which is one of the hardest things I've had to come to terms with. It's not the first time I've been up ended but I never imagined I'd be in this sort of situation again where I'm kind of floating in a limbo state figuring out what to do. That in itself is stressful and disheartening but I'm working towards buying my own property so that this doesn't happen again. But that won't be for some time.

Going forward commissions may be a little limited while I recover and possibly more focused on YCHs. I want to return to working on To Dust, as I start restructuring things and working towards myself and prioritizing my wants and not being as financially burdened.
But for now this is sort of a where I am at the moment post.

I'm struggling with medical costs, I have surgery coming up, I was stranded in Toronto after the valet broke my car during Furnal Equinox which was the one thing I was looking forward to in light of everything I've been dealing with. Costs to get back home and sorted out have put me in jeopardy of actually covering my medical bills and I'm so defeated and lost right now. I had everything sorted out and it feels like everything is being ripped away from me.

And because I have been getting a huge volume of people asking about To Dust, this is partially why it's taking so long. I've been caught up in medical shit for so long between chronic pain and trying to juggle commissions and my comic because this is my only source of income and commissions make more money so I am forced to choose in order to make ends meet. I'm so sorry. I want to get to a place where I can do better with my comic. I've been working towards that but like continues to throw shit like this at me and I am so exhausted.

Hadn't realised it had been so long since I made a journal entry here so it was about time I did!

Things have been a bit hectic for me (when aren't they). I've been doing alright aside some some stressors at home. I'll be putting up an auction to help out with things in the next few days so if that's something that interests you keep an eye out!

As for what I've been up to there's been a lot! Work-wise my main focus at the moment it commissions and To Dust,. I have been getting some questions on when I will be opening next and the short answer is May. The long answer is a bit more complex. I'll be opening specifically for some experimental commissions which will be scene commissions that give me a bit of creative freedom. I want to flex my creative muscles and try some new techniques and make some stuff akin to like movie posters, or thins you might see in anime or music videos, Like some really punchy and wild stuff and work on my composition and dynamic character posing. So if that's something that interests you stay tuned. I will be opening to my Patron's first as usual so if you really have your heart set on something like that consider joining. It has come to my attention that there I'd an unauthorized Russian translation of To Dust, thst has been going on without my consent. It deeply saddens me to know this has been going on without the translator asking my permission and on top of this it is alleged that the individual has been paid to translate To Dust, as well as may be continuing to profit off of the translation. I work very hard to produce To Dust, with the help of my Patrons on Patreon who support my work monetarily. Making welcomics is a very long, exhausting, and expensive process. While I'm fortunate to make ends meet and have some money left over for me to indulge in some hobbies, the vast majority of my earnings to into rent and food which is why I rely on both commissions and patreon to keep myself going. Without the support of people on Patreon To Dust, would not be possible or at the very least even slower in production. It hurts me deeply to know that someone has been making money off of my comic by simply translating it. I offer my comic as FREE TO READ for everyone despite all the effort I put in with some pages taking 10+ hours to produce.

In addition to this, despite having finished the script, the story is a work in progress. I have made corrections to some of the pages including spelling mistakes, dialogue fixes, rendrering fixes, as well as removed the cameo of a problematic patron which is why it is imperative that I maintain control over the dissemination of the comic. Patreon is where I keep everything archived for historic purposes. Until the first book is printed things will still be in that state of work in progress.

This is why I ask and have added to the bottom righ of the pages to please not repost the comic anywhere without my permission. I AM OPEN TO PARTNERING WITH TRANSLATORS FOR OFFICIAL TRANSLATIONS AND I AM WILLING TO OFFER REASONABLE COMPENSATION FOR THE EFFORTS OF A RELIABLE TRANSLATOR.
