Looking for advice
Posted 14 years agoSo I've been doodling and sketching for a few years now. And I'm getting good at it, even started posting monthly updates and stuff.
So now I'm looking for a bit of criticism on my work to see where I could be improving.
I think its only fair that I ask the people who watch my stuffs (Note: this is not a request thread).
I have several reference books I use in my works. Ranging from cheap and nasty Anime/manga art books to really nice ones like the ImagineFX magazine's "how to" books.
So I'm not short on those. And the internet makes up anything I am missing. But I'd still like to ask as more eyes can see things clearer.
Try to keep your answers clean, no flame wars in my journal please. And I would like to reserve the right to remove troublesome posts (not that my friends post those )
Also:
InB4 - Draw moar pronz plox! No, I'm not that kind of artist.
InB4 - Draw me free arts! Only if I like the concept, nothing adult or sick.
Still got a couple of pics to draw up. I'll get those done by next weekend.

Team Buddies for the PS1. That game was f'kin' Awesome!

The Sims 1 (with all the expansion packs and some downloadable characters)
Day 5 - Game character you feel you are most like (or wish you were):
Claude - Star Ocean: The Second Story. That guy who works on a space ship but ends up living on a fantasy world.
Day 6 - Most annoying character:
RAYMAN! For the love of F**K why does he still exist!
Day 7 - Favourite game couple:
Leo and ADA (Zone of Enders)
Day 8 - Best soundtrack.
Zone of Enders 1 and 2. I listened to that soo much I could probably sing it by heart (and most of it is in Japanese :P ). That or Brutal Legend
Day 9 - Saddest game scene:
I think every game has a sad part. its how it effects you that makes it memorable
Day 10 - Best game play.
Command and Conquer RA2. that game is still awesome no matter how old it is.
Day 11 - Gaming system of choice.
SEGA Megadrive!
Day 12 - A game everyone should play.
Conkers Bad Furday. Classic comedy plat former
Day 13 - A game you’ve played more than five times.

Posted 14 years agoGah I have been soo pissed off recently it is just unbelievable. I was down at My gaming club on Sunday and pulled to one side and told that my entire group for Monday night RP's was under suspicion for fiddling the cash intake and that we were all to have a two week suspension from all club days/events!
It just pisses me off that not only has this been happening. Its been happening right in front of me without ever suspecting a thing. I mean when you trust someone to run the cash box for the night you trust them. its a done thing. but to hear they've... GAH DAMN IT!!
So in short expect me to be a little miffed the next few days.
Update: apparently the person doing this came forward and the ban has been lifted on everyone but them. Whole thing still pisses me off.

Posted 14 years agoI get stuck away from my PC for 2 days (2 day furmeet) and end up with 31S, 4C, 36J, 1F, 1W. I know that isn't much compared to some artists, but, man. When you come back and see that it kinda hits you, y'know?

So I posted a pic of a random Tigress earlier and I need a name for her.
Her original Human name doesn't work any more (since she's in space and nobody can pronounce it :P ), so they gave her one that suits her from their own language.
She is a human / Bengal Tiger hybrid (red and white fur with black stripes), See what you can come up with. I'm tempted to add in a little doodle prize for the most awesome name (doesn't have to win to be awesome)

So we had quite a few names put forward for the poor tigress. Quite a few good ones too:
Shanti, Amari, Erina, Divinity.
Then by chance the other day I saw [u]this news article[u] Which got me thinking of the word 'Nephlim'.
So I decided to name her hybrid slave race/breed Nephlim, and her in turn Nephillia. And also decided that seemed like a cop out so you four get a free doodle anyway for taking part

Posted 14 years agoThis is the third picture I've had to mess with hue/saturation and crap to correct my scanner eating the yellows >.<
I know what to do now. But it's a pain to have to correct it all the time if I draw a character that uses Yellow or Orange (colours: Copic Ciao Yellow Ochre YR23 and Apricot YR16).
Think I need to upgrade :(

Posted 14 years agoSo I didn't get a committee position this year. But that's ok. I seem to do this yo-yo thing of one year on and one year off. Then had a fun day playing card games and chatting to people. so not a total loss.
But, meh. I suppose it gives me less to worry about and more time to do things for myself. Like finish this damn programming course, get a job (maybe a gf if I'm lucky :P ) and generally sort myself out.

Posted 14 years agoNo not my birthday. Its our clubs AGM (Annual General Meeting). That time where everyone starts picking fights over the smallest details that haven't been completed over the last year and when our agenda is set for the next 12 months. Its also a time when we start campaigning for re-election of our officials, and that means I have to be nice to people for the next two weeks :P (I'm currently a committee member, and a runner).
This is usually the rowdiest 3-4 weeks in our club. And I'm stuck in it till April 3rd when it all gets voted on.

* Finished off an Awesome-tacular pic of one of my fav characters, Midna Wayind.
* The jobcentre decided to pay me for the last 4 weeks worth of... well not payings.
* There's an artist meet this week and i'm looking forward to it ^-^
* Been rocking out to the Awesome sounds of Macross 7's band Fire Bomber! As well as May'N's songs from Macross Frontier (specifically this one :P)
* and warcraft has new content to play with
It's all good ^-^

* Finished off an Awesome-tacular pic of one of my fav characters, Midna Wayind.
* The jobcentre decided to pay me for the last 4 weeks worth of... well not payings.
* There's an artist meet this week and i'm looking forward to it ^-^
* Been rocking out to the Awesome sounds of Macross 7's band Fire Bomber! As well as May'N's songs from Macross Frontier (specifically this one :P)
* and warcraft has new content to play with
It's all good ^-^
