Unprofessionalism
Posted 15 years agoOne of the things about being president of an anime/manga company in the US is the lack of loyalty from the people you pick. I found out that my Head Writer is going behind my back and looking for an illustrator for his own venture. Now, granted, I can see where he's coming from. Seeing that we have a hard time in finding the RIGHT illustrator here in San Jose, he wants to get things done on his written work.
However, there are a couple of things. First off, don't go behind Leviathan's (my company) back and intend to leave us without intellectual property to work on. That just looks bad. Ridiculous, even. Plus, you will have a reputation floating about in the industry. In other words, you're screwed if you screwed over people.
Secondly, I have a personal motto: "Give me your loyalty, and I will give you the world." Don't lie to me. I will know, and even if I don't, I will find out. And when I find out, I will go out of my way to warn others.
Finally, if you're not a team player then don't waste my time. I respect that people will want to do this on their own, but don't waste my time. If finding an illustrator was easy, Leviathan would not have this problem. It's not all about you. Yes, I appreciate your hard work and dedication to yourself, but learn some patience when you're dealing with someone's start-up company who goes out of their way to help you bring life to your written work.
So I have two choices:
- Keep you and practice your patience and loyalty in the company.
- Find an equally capable writer with managerial skills, fire you, and make sure you don't get work again.

I hate being the big bad boss, but I rather be "tough and nice" than "nice and tough". I will not tolerate disloyalty and short-term planning. I will not tolerate damaging my company's reputation just because we are impatient for good talent. We are Leviathan, and we don't settle for sub-par work. If anything, we want to do anime and manga justice and make it a respectable masterpiece of print media.

Posted 15 years agoSeriously, I wonder why most of the young adult population can't seem to get it together. When you're 18, you're considered an adult and when you're 21, you're given the legal privilege to drink alcohol. So why do I see tons of people, way past their "adult" age, act like children?
Granted, you're allowed to scream, holler, yell, kick, scream, etc. But sometimes, you just gotta do it yourself. Recently, I met some wonderful people who deserve great credit and respect. They know who they are. Mature, responsible adults taking care of their business despite massive emotional stress. Those single moms who work tirelessly for their children, the father who makes time for their kids, the sons and daughters who build their lives to make themselves proud, the people who sacrifice themselves to make others happy and asking for nothing in return.
It pisses me off watching 18-30 year olds acting like irritating children. Immature behavior is what gets me. The minute something goes wrong in their lives, they garner as much attention as possible but don't even figure out what the hell they need to do!
Even worse, they come to me. I'm not here to teach you about every little thing. I'm tired of co-dependent people cry to mommy and daddy to clean up the mess. Some of us, like me, do not have that luxury. I have no one to depend on. Yes, my relationship with my mom is great and such. Because I chose not to ask for help, she worked hard enough. I rather believe in my own inner-strength and solve my own drama (despite my dramatic emotional reactions, those fade relatively quick).
I can't do it anymore. I am not your superhero. I just can't. I'm not here to show you how it's done. I'm here to tell you one important thing. No, you!

Live from Mesa, Arizona!
Posted 15 years agoO...M...G. It's suburbia out here! A 24/7 Wal-Mart! In my massive boredom (which, by the way, can be collected into a physical mass), I have been quite the busy illustrator! Nuts, isn't it? Look forward to it! It's going to be a blast, releasing multiple projects all at once!
HUGE project secret:
For those who are watching me on FA, you will get an early sneak peek of what I have been doing for the last couple of weeks!
Much love to all of you!

Posted 15 years agoGo to FurCon! I had such a blast! Made some awesome new friends! Thank you, all of you, in making my first FurCon experience a very memorable one!
Fox and the Hound
Posted 15 years agoIt's the first time I watched it. When Tod was left behind in the Game Preserve, I cried. Made me so sad! *sob*
...terrible timing
Posted 15 years agoMy tablet died while trying to color "Buraian to Watashi no Jikan". Dammit! Just when I was getting to understanding shading and coloring!

Posted 16 years agoI have been a fan of Key's work with their anime series and games. They created the AIR series, and their opening themes are to be marveled at because they turn out to be colorful introductions.
MintJam covered these opening themes with their own metal guitar flair. They covered CLANNAD, AIR and Kanon, so have fun!

Posted 16 years agoIt's been a while!
Posted 16 years agoOMG, it's been forever since I have done ANYTHING on FA. I have taken a HUGE break from artwork, and worked a lot on writing skills, business skills, other skills in general. And, since school is starting up soon, less time for me! Wah!
However! I now have a website up and running! Thank God for Google Sites to make things much easier for a beginner like me to make a website!
As for the previous entry made (Long ago!) I finally taken steps to make the idea work!
Four chapters have now been released for the Kingdom Hearts: The Keyblade Sages on my website! I hope people will love it!

Kingdom Hearts: The Keyblade Sages
Posted 17 years agoI have been thinking of this story for a while. Basically, I asked myself, what if I had to work for Square Enix and I was given the task of writing the last game of the Kingdom Hearts series?
Then it hit me.
Why did the keyblade chose Sora? Why do the Heartless exist? What is the keyblade made of? Who made the keyblade? All these questions!
So I propose the greatest project that I can ever ask for any art community. I wish to have this idea made into a game or a doujinshi. However, I lack the drawing talent and experience to make this the most enriching Kingdom Hearts story imaginable.
All I ask is to spread the word about this project!
Here's my premise:
Seven sages govern the interior of Kingdom Hearts. Inside is the origin of all worlds, called Creation's Gate. There, worlds live and die. Keyblades are born. Dreams are made.
Tagline:
"Every sword had a blacksmith. Every heart had a desire. Every keyblade had a beginning."
Then it hit me.

My Hello to FurAffinity
Posted 17 years agoI know this is overdue, but dammit, I want to make this formal! Call me John. I am a guy who draws from time to time. Especially chubby bears! (^ ^)
I have been doing this on and off for five years now. My first teacher was a classmate, she got me started with basic anime sketching skills.
Then I ran into Mark Wulfgar's *ahem* more "open" work. After that, I discovered this website. Blazingcheecks caught my attention after that. The color, the shading, the shadow work, all expertly done. I never been this inspired in my entire life. There were nights when there's nothing but sketching and inking.
To Everyone:
I WELCOME YOU INTO MY LIFE!
