Dead Account - Insight
Posted 2 years agoDidn't really feel like logging back into this account after years of leaving it inactive and unused.
Against my better judgement, I'm putting out my alt account on this profile for future tagging purposes. I obtained a lot of art under this account's name throughout the years, so it kind of sucks that said work is being tagged through a dead account and people don't know where I went. I still won't use FA to put any of my commissions up with thanks to staff members having manipulated my posts in the past. Therefore, if you want to keep up with me in some periodic fashion, my alt account is provided below.
As to why I left this account but yet still hang onto it, sentimental value, I suppose, and nothing more or less. As time went on I became less and less attached to "TanekWoofer" and moreso to my alt account's name / character. Anyway, thanks for the attention and support over the years. This account will remain as a monument, and later, a memorial page. Otherwise, this account will remain dead and inactive outside of periodic logins to nuke messages and check notes.

Posted 9 years agoYesterday, my roommate and I discovered a lost / stray cat. I later found out today that it was a female, so I gave her a name despite the news I received when having taken her to a local shelter and adoption place.
I gave her a name ... One that fit her for fighting for so longer, for surviving and coming to our porch not 24-25 hours ago, looking for the one last hope that someone would have the decency and compassion to help her, even if it was for not.
I spent from 2pm yesterday to 5am this morning checking on her ever 30-60 minutes, tried to help give her water, food, warmth, and even got the permission from my roommates to let me bring her inside overnight to be warm in the face of the snow / ice storm that hit central Ohio. I spent my time this morning with only 4 hours of sleep tending to her while having spent all day yesterday calling places, only to continuously get "no's" and "can't do's" due to the nature of the cat.
My roommate returned home early from worth, and thankfully so, as we drove through the storm to a shelter / clinic for animals, and spoke with someone while they took the cat from me to evaluate her...Only to be interrupted a moment later that she was entering her final stages of life...
They tried to deny me one final moment with her, but after some choice words, they let me through long enough to at least touch her and pet her for a few moments, and look her in the eyes to tell her I was sorry. That there wasn't any more I could do for her, that I was sorry I couldn't take her place so she could get better...I cried, and let them take her into the back room...to put her down and let her pass in peace.
I haven't been able to stop crying...and she passed away about 40 minutes ago via a relaxant and then the aid to help her pass on.
For a cat, a stray, a nameless (until early this morning) and an animal that was not mine...She has had very profound impact on my life in these last 24 hours. I have not cried or been so utterly beside myself to such a degree since two years ago. She wasn't my responsibility, she wasn't mine to keep or raise to to make sure she was healthy. It wasn't my place to help her or be there to warm her up and feed her, or help her get her eyes open so she could at least see who was helping her.
It wasn't my place to interrupt what Nature was going to inevitably take.
But, I made her my responsibility, I made it my right, I made it my choice to take her in...It was my choice to name her and look her in the eyes and say I was sorry, to hold her one last time so when she passed on that she would hopefully remember me and what I tried to do to make her final day in this world peaceful and warm, looked after and cared for unlike the cruel, heartless, and disgusting, vile person that left such a beautiful girl like her out to the mercy of the world.
Bellona, I will miss you. All it took was 2 to 3 hours for you to be in my life to have such an impact. And 24 hours total for you to leave me so heartbroken to see you leave. Rest in peace, and while I may not be religious, I hope your spirit can find comfort and rest in all that you had to endure through.

[Ramble] Artistic Motivation
Posted 10 years agoAs some of you may recall, I used to be an artist. I used to draw, used to enjoy it, attempted conventions and Artist Alleys. However, after a year or two, the constant disappointment with my own work, the lack of "being noticed," so-to-speak, and general loss of enjoying my art as a whole, sort of drove me into an art block the size of Jupiter. That said, ever since mid of this year, my depression and general emotional / mental issues have slowly slipped away (a few seemingly overnight).
With this, I thought and hoped that my drive or motivation would return. However, that is far from the case.
I wake up from time to time, driven by the burning urges to draw, to pick up my pens and pencils, to sharpen my coloring sticks, and really put some time and effort into a piece of art. For some reason, despite the losses of my overall depression, I still get a massive wave of anxiety when i put a half-finished, near-finished, or just started piece of art in front of me. I can't focus on it, I get angry at myself that I can't just work on it, then everything that I woke up with wanting to do with the art leaves me. Pencils get tossed aside, and I resort back to my feel-good remedy: PC games.
The will is there, the drive and sometimes overwhelming, screaming necessity to work on art.
But what is present is the reminder that it's somehow turned into a job or requirement that I get this stuff done, and it kills my mood for art along with the anxiety. I have art I owe people, I have art that I want and would love to get done / get started on. I don't want to lose my one and only source for having a creative outlet (some sandbox games help, but it's never enough).
I am a traditional artist through and through. The only way I can stream anything is by using a webcam and mounting it on a series of rulers above the art so people can see what I am working on from above. Streaming used to motivate me greatly because I love people watching me work. But now I am worried I have lost any sort of "skill" I had previously due to the length of time I have spent with the art block and lack of practicing.
I am the kind of artist that emulates someone else's style / work. I cannot do poses from scratch, I have to trace poses from photos on Google (I do not trace other artist's work, and if I see a pose an artist did, I typically note them to ask permission to mimic that pose). When it comes to commissions, I fall behind a lot, and thankfully what commissions I have taken in the past were free (from milestones here on FA). While a great deal of these are finished, and a few of them are laminated (like con badges) I do not have the heart to send them out to those who they are owed to because the style looks like junk and the laminating process did not hold properly.
In the end, artistic motivation comes down to your emotional / mental state. Do you want to work on that piece you spent all night on? Are you in the mood to work? Are you willing to open up more slots despite having a backlog? You're sick, but should you work at the risk of your quality sucking? So many things tie into an artist's feeling for a piece of art.
