So I've been thinking a lot about this whole furry thing. And I've been trying to find a way to coherently describe the psychological process behind it. What I mean is in the most basic generalized description of the anthropomorphic fandom is, at least as I have come to see it, an art based fandom based around imaginary animal people. Now why is there any interest in these anthros in the first place because in actual reality they do not exist. I'm not talking about any of the kinks that are involved with being a "fur" because all the art found around here whether yiffy, vore, macro, etc. etc. is just an expression of the human condition. I'm searching for the reason for the attraction to them in the first place.
Is it some primal need to try to relate the natural world in a increasingly less natural existence? Is it more sexual than that, as in does the fandom exist for the access to all the free porn? Maybe it provides a community for people to be a part of that will accept them for the entirety of who they are? Does the fandom provide a reality that is so different from actuality that that difference provides an escape from all the pressures of actuality? How about a spiritual thing, as in this animal that one is relating with is related to that persons soul? Or is it some form of brainwashing that took place in a person's childhood through say disney or pokemon and that love for those characters matured with that person as he/she reached adolescence? Anyway im interested in hearing what others have to say about it.
My curiosity in others on this subject begins first and foremost with myself and my own personal attraction to the fandom and what it means to be a furry. Personally my attraction to anthros/ animals/ anthropomorphized creatures has been in me for as long as i can remember. No joke, in first grade I had an imaginary cougar girlfriend. And i had quite a thing for robin hood and mary in the animated disney movie. I mean the list goes on and on. I mean another example in 7th grade, still long before i knew what a furry was, i was drawing wolf anthros having sex with each other and humans. Where could these ideas have come from? At this point my character feels like an entirely different entity living inside of me. This entity has helped me develope and grow into everything that I am today. And I feel like if i didn't have my character that today I would be completely lost. Anyway what are others experiences?

So i'm not so good at these journal things but here it goes. I'll be moving soon where I can set up my scanner and tablet. My gallery could really use some technological love. The whole digital camera in a poorly lit apartment is just not going well. I cannot wait to have a desk again, this whole sitting on the floor to oil paint/draw is starting get pretty whack. But if anyone is following this journal gimme a message, dont be shy now, especially artists im down for some collabs. ^^
