Posted 11 years agoif you saw my last journal, you'd know that i am now the owner of a car. which is great and wonderful and exciting and all, but after putting around 200 miles on it, my transmission is going. that's at least $1500 to replace. i've already put so much of my savings into buying this car and i have no money to replace the transmission.
also W just got a new job, so using his car to go to work anymore is going to be a challenge. so now my car is not safe to drive until the trans is replaced. to give you an idea of what's going on- the trans is slipping while i accelerate or sometimes just when i'm driving down the road and it will not switch from 1st or 2nd gear the majority of the time i start it up.
im fucked dude. anybody have any advice on how to get a good deal on a replacement? do you know if mechanics will offer payment plans for costly replacements?

and I FINALLY gathered the money to purchase a new one. The car that was totaled was the other driver's responsibility so I never had to make a claim with my insurance and received $3500 for the damages. Which is great and all, but there was a catch. The car was given to me by my parents so all of the money went to them. They offered to give the money to me as soon as I found a car, but ended up needing it in their move to another state. That being said, they offered to help me out with payments each month- but there's no way I could afford the insurance on a car that's not paid off.
So, after months of saving and searching, I finally got a car. No more rides to work and grocery stores from roommates and friends, no more missing out on seeing my family for the past year, no more anxiety from feeling trapped in my house. Oh my God. It's literally the biggest weight lifted from my chest. I feel independent again. I didn't even have to touch the savings put aside for a psychiatrist!! <3<3<3

so this is a fairly weird question and i would also like to mention that i do not want biased responses just because you watch me here. for the sake of privacy, we'll call the person i'm referring to in this journal as "w."
anyway, w really wants to go to a furry convention. w is not a furry. and, in my experience, bringing along somebody who is not a furry to a furcon generally is not a good idea. especially when you're traveling to and attending the convention with all of your furry friends. at least, that's my opinion. i find that it makes other furries uncomfortable because they feel the need to include the other person such as w in conversations and activities- even when nonfurs have no idea what's going on or how to include themselves in said conversations and activities. this just ends up being uncomfortable for everybody because w would have no idea what to do but sit and observe (which can make some people uncomfortable) or try to be a part of the group without actually knowing what's going on (which makes for an uncomfortable experience for both parties.)
w's argument is that they have a small group of friends that happen to be furries (including myself and my roommates) and that they really enjoy this group of people. and, while w does not necessarily include themselves in the furry community online, they would love to get to know people irl at conventions. not necessarily because they want to stay involved in the furry community, but because they think furries are interesting, cool people. they also argue that it's unfair to assume they [w] would be uncomfortable or make others uncomfortable just because they are not furry- that it's elitist and rude to suggest that they would not be as welcomed or have as much fun because they are not directly involved in the community.
so what do you think? how do you feel about having somebody who is not a furry [and does not necessarily plan on ever being one] a part of your con group? how do you feel about them attending the con in general? do you feel like it's great that somebody would just want to have the experience of a fur con, spend time with their irl furry friends, and watch them interact with others? or do you think it would make you uncomfortable to have somebody tag along who doesn't have any plans of being a furry and maintaining furry friendships online (as the furry community is primarily an internet-centered subculture)?

Posted 11 years agothere will be a delay in posting art on this account. unfortunately, the next 11 days for me are going to consist of working open to close, spending 3 days camping, then immediately back to 7 days straight of working open-close. while it does mean that i will have a lot of work down time to draw, i do not have access to a camera or an editing program to color my work. so that pretty much mean that, in another 2 weeks, y'all are going to get a mini flood of art instead of consistent posting.
i apologize if that inconveniences my commissioners. im currently working on finding a better paying job (i work a lot but $7 an hour just ain't cutting it) with a boss that doesn't take advantage of me so hopefully walf will be back to a working, drawing, lil deer in due time. ^u^

Don't wanna bore ya with some sob story (everybody and their mother has one on furaffinity) , but I have an anxiety disorder and it's getting back to the point where I have frequent panic attacks. Had one last night on the streets of Orlando and I was lying on the sidewalk shaking so hard that a homeless man came to me to see if I needed help- so I think it's about time to take care of the thing I've been so afraid to do- see a doctor and get back on medication. I do have a job, but I also have bills and food to pay for, so I absolutely cannot afford a visit otherwise (I do not have access to insurance.)

I've been asked to try on lingerie for a customer who had no intent to purchase anything and if we had a "massage" room in the back. I've also seen customers nearly butt naked walk out of our dressing room and ask me my opinion on the totally and entirely sheer, revealing lingerie they were trying on. Parents routinely bring in small children and allow them to waddle around where they generally end up just staring at our dildo wall.

Posted 11 years agoso what's everybody's experience with the drug? i had done it once before some time last year, and did it again at a festival not too long ago. had a pretty life-changing experience that rendered me unable to speak or move at some points. i learned a lot from it and felt much more at peace with a lot of my strongest anxieties. so what are your stories? tell me all about them!

Posted 11 years agomy boyfriend was borrowing my car when it collided and smashed into an unlicensed driver at 35 mph today. thankfully, he's only walking away with a scraped up, bloody hand (it flew forward- blocking his head and nearly smashing through my windshield.) the entire front of my car was bending toward the ground- just to the point of compacting my entire front end to the point where the front doors could not efficiently open. the airbags were deployed, my dashboard slightly compacted, and the machinery broken and punctured (all of the oil in my car was pouring out onto the ground.) i was just about to take the car so i could make it to my first day of my new second job. thankfully, the other party was 100% at fault so everything appears to be looking up.
however, the worth of my car is about $2300 at the very most. it's an okay amount, but it's not that much when it means buying a not-that-horrible-piece-of-shit car. not sure what i'm going to do seeing as how i just had to find a second job to support myself.

it's pretty dang cool to draw again.
i've been working on a couple of trades with people and i'm really having fun with them.
i think it's much easier when i don't feel like i have serious obligations to draw something. i'm grossly non-committal, so when things seem to require a serious commitment, i tend to go blank and lose confidence and just stop drawing.
so as far as commission work is concerned, i don't think i'll be doing the commission thing for a while. and, if i do ever get back into that, it'll be like one slot every so often so i don't end up giving myself weird anxiety about it.
in other words, i really want to get back into playing around with my art. i like taking my time. i like editing and experimenting and sketching several ideas and images for the final product-no matter how small and unimpressive that final product is. i like feeling like i don't have an obligation to make something a certain way.
plus, i feel like most of the stuff i post is just the same old thing. but anyway, i think i'm gonna start playing with new styles and get out of that funk of skinny animal people smoking cigarettes, ya dig??
