Anyway - happy new year and all that, everyone =3

I do apologise for the artblock i've been having for more than a year now. I do have opportunities to draw but i just end up staring at the page and... doing something else. Sleep is usually a wonderful option whenever i want to be productive, haha. In any case, i want to get rid of this nonsense this year. I decided that i must draw and upload something once a month. So let's see if i can get off my tail and do something.

Secondly, i think it is time for an overdue character/fursona revisit. I have plans for Wolfers, and i think my first drawings will be some of the new designs i've been playing with. Nothing radical, just an update. I'm a wolfbear after all, and all my references are pure canine.

Anyway, so last year (wow, feels weird saying that) i felt that familiar need again. Haha, now now. It's that familiar need to get a new car. Every 2-3 years i seem to drool over something new, and ruin myself financially. Oh welllll. It's a Citroën DS3, a sporty little thing akin to the VW Beetle, Mini Cooper and Fiat 500. I am SICK and TIRED of Apple's pettiness. Honestly, all these lawsuits against Android in general and whatnot is driving me batty.

It's childish BULLSHIT. Fuck, man. To me it's like BMW suing Mercedes-Benz because OMG THEY USE A ROUND WHEEL. Or Sony suing Telefunken because their TV's are rectangular with a black bezel. Or because they also use remote controls. WITH BUTTONS. "Fuck you, Telefunken, you can't use buttons on your remote. That was OUR idea! Use a different interface!"

Well fuck. There was a time I thought much more of Apple. I was never a fan, but i thought their products were cool. Desirable even. Heck, i wanted an iMac when they came out. Who didn't? Even now, i like the latest Macbook Pro. I would love to see the retina display.

But here's the thing. Recently i sold my iPod touch. Two reasons - Here in South Africa iTunes and Apple fucks you over. I had to jump through hoops, set my hair on fire WHILE eating a sandwich with codfish on, JUST to get bloody Angry Birds on the thing. Of course, i kinda forgave this shenanigance. But then, after a while, i couldn't even use my iPod without thinking how much Apple pisses me off. I stopped using it altogether. One good thing - resale value is great.

I can't stand the thought that one of the most valuable IT companies in the world will dedicate their fantastic fortune to fucking lawsuits to screw competitors. When did this become good business practice? What the fuck is wrong with "Damn, they are 'copying' our ideas. Hey, let's show them and make it even better! LET's FUCKING INNOVATE!" I can't stand that this bloody fortune is not spent on more important world matters, you know, like fucking research or charity work? Dammit, man.

Anyway, Apple - here is a big, gigantic FUCK YOU. I will never EVER support any of your products on principle. And i will make sure to advise anyone and everyone who trusts my opinion against you.

PS - i don't have an Android phone, so don't yell "OMG FANBOI" at me. I have a BlackBerry. I want BB10. And i'm considering Windows Phone as my secondary device. I'm rooting for the underdogs.

This is one of those obligatory new-years journals. You know, he ones where you think about the past year and wonder... "what the f@ck were you thinking!", hehe.

Firstly, wising everyone a wonderful and happy 2011! I hope it's a great year for everyone =D

2010 was a very good year for me, and although i did some insane things like buying a brand new car (again) and driving to Cape Town on a very expensive (and fun!) roadtrip, nothing will come close to one specific thing (or rather person) that 2010 had in store for me...

Now, not many guys will put up with my whiiiining and occasional aggroness and needyness when it comes to being my mate, but then again, he's not just anybody. He is the most amazing, sweet and loving guy. Not sure how i tricked him into being my lion, but i sure do love him very much... He knows who he is ;3

After saying that, everything else seems secondary. Lionz is second to none. <3

And with that i think i need to get some sleep. Work starts in the 4th, bleeeh. Gotta make a living though!

I read an old personal journal of mine earlier… mincing the words in my mind, and feeling a bit ashamed at the tale I’ve told… the ups, down, the utter stupidity I fell victim to every now and then. *shakes his head* I’m not impressed with how I handled certain things in the past, how I let some things and some people screw me over. That’s it… It’s really no-one's fault but my own.

I’m much stronger now… I bite back, I bare my fangs. If you’d excuse the pun, heh.

A lot has changed over the past year... I’ve developed a fire burning inside me, a need to be MORE. To be BETTER. I want to make an impression, I want to feel GOOD about myself, learn new things. I do not want to be the guy who said “Only if I also learnt to do that” or “I could have done that better” or “I wish I knew how to do this”. I do not want to be the guy who falls into a never-ending daily routine, stuck in one spot like a broken record. Repetition is my enemy. I have learnt to hate it… Be different, have your own style, stand out from the crowd… And… as I learnt – live and let live. Don’t piss on anyone’s dreams or wants. We are all trying to make our way on this planet, we are all trying to live, to be happy. We all want to belong.

I’m going to cut my hair and lose weight. I’m going to take the time I have… how long it ever may be… and be someone. Be more, be better. Learn, experience, grow. By the time I’m 30, I want to look back at this, and smile – I’ve done it. I’ve set goals, I’ve made those goals, and along my path, I had been nothing but good to my peers. I’ve been a positive influence, I’ve made people smile, and I’ve meant something good to those who crossed my path. This is who I want to be.

And along the way, I know I have support and understanding of a few incredible people I am lucky enough to know and love.

Hey there, furries of furspace!

I've been such a busy beast; work is driving me nuts sometimes, and last week is had barely any sleep before my boss's USA trip. I did catch up some this weekend however (since it was a long weekend, yay!). But now i don't wanna go back to work tomorrow :/

I've also been trying my paw at writing again - some of you may know i had some previous (and less than successful attempts), but i think i got a fairly solid and exciting storyline plotted out in my head. For now, it's a skeletal outline, but i hope to start posting chapters soon ^^

Anyway, i have one Hell of an artist's block as of late, and it's such a drag. I really want to get stuff done, but i have SEVERAL unfinished pieces lying around without the will to actually complete any. I sometimes follow the same pattern at work - several pieces of unfinished threads of work, but lacking the will to complete any. Workblock? Lols. Is this a common thing with creative people? What do you guys think? I know i am about as logical as ice-cream on your cellphone. IF you know what i mean. My mind wanders in 10 different directions any given minute, to the dismay of several peers.

My car is a whole year old tomorrow, and the clock is almost on 40,000km. That's ALOT for just a year. But it has to be said - i just love driving. Also, my sister's back yard is a much fun impromptu skidpad when the mood hits me. Like two days ago... with my mom in the car. She apparently enjoyed it after the initial shock of the handbrake turn wore off... My sister still has to figure out what the lines in the grass are. Shhh.

Steam is a giant prick sometimes. Like now. I can't play anything until it updates. And the update keeps failing. Stop being a twat, Steam. Let me play Braaaaid!

On a positive note - i picked up a HSUPA / HSDPA USB modem yesterday for a bargain price, R699. That's about $100. Half-price, baby. It works great too! Finally, interwebs on the move, whereever i have at least GPRS coverage. It's just bloody expensive, since Vodacom loves ripping consumers off. Oh well... Being mobile comes at a price, apparently.

Anyways... i am not sure what the point of this random journal is, but if you read it and find it slightly entertaining, i am most pleased ^^

The general artwhore / lurker here, heh.

I'm so frustrated with my art (if you can call it that, hehe) as of late. I'm incredibly out of practice, and it just makes it wooorse. And the fact that i have so little time for hobbies nowadays doesn't help either. At least i have three sketches lying around that i need to upload at some point. I'd like to colour them, tho, but that has never been my forte. Well, we'll see! For those who are so patiently waiting for pictures from me - I take my imaginary hat off to thee.

Work is going... interestingly. Deadlines will not be met, and to add to that each of us are trying to do the job of three people. Well, i suppose that's what comes from a company with 7 employees trying to take on a company of over 4000 employees. AND BEATING THEM. THAT is what makes such hard work all worth it at the end. Kicking Goliath's ass. If only we had more time, money, recources, patience, experience, etc etc. Then we could kick it all the better. But we're managing. For now...

I downloaded Opera 10.50 just a little while ago. Full Windows 7 integration! It is sweet and fast. Me love you long tiemz, Opera! Now, get more extensions like the Fox on Fire and rule browserdom just before Google rules the planet. You know Google will own the world one day. Just look at Chromeframe... "Oh, you're using IE and refuse to acknowledge us? Well, don't use Google Chrome, we'll just intect some of it into your browser. Tada!"

I hear Blackberry OS 6.0 and 5.2 is in the works! I am running 5.0 on my Curve atm. Now, please, Blackberry. GIVE ME FLASH AND SILVERLIGHT. I know you want to. Also, making the interface prettier won't hurt, you know. Yes, i know it is efficient, but brains won't cut it at beauty contests on its own!

Gotta dust off my FA a bit, hehe. I'm so inactive here it's just not funny :( I'll blame it on work, and artblock. Or artblocks. It feels like several, hehe. Oh, and general laziness.

But i digress! 2009 is nearly over... It's been one Hell of a year, for both good and bad. I've been thrown into the deep end at work, i have made that dreaded thing we call debt, and i've grown. At least, i'd like to think i did. Let's recap:

1. I started my first real job on 5 January, with the help of  anoyomouse. Work has been been both just great and a complete pain in the tail. I've considered quitting not more than 2 months ago, but things have picked up again. My boss is a difficult person with dreams to conquer the solar system, and our team is just too small to make things happen within the timeframe that we would like. But you have to keep the goals in view... and to be brutally honest, a good job is very hard to come by. I see that alot in the local fur community - i'm a very lucky wolfie. Still, the late hours suck, and overtime pay does not exist in the company's mind >.>

2. Bought my very first car on my own, and made a ton of debt ^^; I do wish my dad was still around to help and advise, but i'm convinced i made the right choice in the end. I bought the Getz on the 28th of April. Two days ago, the mileage passed 26,000km (about 16,000 miles). I drive ALOT, yes.

3. Flew for the first time and did a bit of traveling in the country... I've been in a Boeing 737, McDonnell Douglas MD-80, Jetstream 4100 and a smallish 60 seater jet. The flight in the Jetstream 4100 was BY FAR, the scariest thing i had to do in a long time. We took off in a storm. So much fun. FYI, our fleet of Jetstreams are grounded due to a crash a few months ago and a recent few technical issues. Still, i conclude that flying is a barrel of fun :D

4. Got a credit card... DAMN YOU WOLFERS.

5. Bought a Nikon Coolpix L19 camera, and a Dell Studio 1555 laptop, a small HD TV, and other odds and ends i normally wouldn't be able to afford.

6. On a sadder note, i was in a short-lived relationship the first two months of the year with a foxboy. Our personalities collided pretty spectacularly, and we concluded that friendship is the better option, heh. After that, an old love made a reappearance on the scene, just to let my get my hopes up for nothing. Since then, it's been pretty much lone wolf for me, and maybe for the better. Work just devours my time, anyway.

7. I got on Twitter, and i much prefer it to the bloatedness of Facebook. It's simple, direct and fun.

8. The local fandom grew by and bunch, and we've managed to host a relatively successful furmeet in Centurion with 19 attendees!

9. I took out a contract on a BlackBerry 8900 Curve. I both love and hate the thing. I hate it because work NEVER leaves me alone now. I love it for everything else, heh.

10. Not much else to report, actually. The other things are humdrum activities of boredom. *chuckles*

So, tomorrow is the last day of this year... Let's hope it's a fantastic day.

What's in store for 2010? The biggest thing is of course the Soccer World Cup, that is to be hosted in South Africa. It's going to cause an influx of hundreds of thousands of fans, players and media into the country... it's going to bring normal business operations around the host cities to a standstill, almost. I know that the traffic is going to be INSANE. NOT looking forward to that part. I just hope it all falls into place and works out exactly as planned...

We'll have to wait and see what the new year brings.

I am the kind of person that eats up a lot of crap from people. I sometimes cannot believe how much shit i'll eat up from someone before i finally lose my temper. Or give up on them. It's horrendous.

Inadvertently, this means that i also subconsciously expect people to eat up any crap that i might give them, and be unendingly understanding. And yes, i don't always think everything through properly, and i do mess up. Then i expect from everyone to accept it, and forgive me, because i would do that for them.

But the world does not work that way. I lost two people at about the same time today - one because i finally could not eat up the crap he gave me anymore, and the other for the opposite reason: he could not stand the trouble i gave him anymore. I honestly believe i gave him far less shit than what i took from the first person, but i do not blame him for walking away. I deserved that.

Point is - i care a lot about both, especially the second person.

Maybe i've finally learnt that it does not pay to try and please everyone, to try and understand everyone, and allowing them to do with me as they please without much complaint.

I'm sorry for the pain i've caused you, Mark... And for not listening when you tried to tell me that i was being weak, and letting the world walk over me.

Hey everyone!

First i would like to thank everyone for their support after the little incident with my room being under water. I really appreciate it, guys :)

Secondly, i'm back, and things are looking up! The damage was suprisingly little, we're talking about $750 max. It would probebly be more around $650-700, depending on what replacing my carpet will cost.

Things that SHOULD have died but survived:
* My VCR. I opened the door and poured the water out of it.
* My screens, which were drenched, with one being switched on at the time of the water coming in!
* My linux box, which was drenched as well.
* The network hub, which i had to turn upside down to drain as well, hehe.

Things that did die/got damaged:
* My phone ;.;
* My printer, which died spectacularly. It bled a mix of ink and water.
* One set of speakers
* My laptop AC charger
* Two computer mice
* My Guitar Hero controller
* The carpet and duvet
* The desklamp, which went pop.
* My Rubics Cube (Unrelated, maybe? *laughs*)

So... it's not been that bad, really, hehe. Got in some more water again the other day, but it was way less than the first time, just leaking where my roof failed. Roof fail D:

Anyway, this replacement of my laptop charger was frikkin expensive. $42! It can power any laptop/scanner/printer/speakers/person, tho. :O

Well... you never think it would happen to you, do you?

We had a terrible storm here in Potch, with some nasty hail. The storm and hail destroyed part of the roof, and it rained inside of my room for all practical reasons. I've got alot of damage to my computers and stuff, and i might not be able to finish any requests and drawings for you guys anytime soon... I'm till trying to find out what still works and what not. *chuckles*

I've been so busy the past few months...

I hardly spent any time on FA, let alone my drawings! I have like 600+ submissions to look at, haha... I owe a few furiends pictures too, and i still haven't done much about it... Sorry guys! I think  kingsimba probably wants to kick my furry ass for taking more that 4 months with his comission, Sajin. I'm so close to done with it, but i want to put my back into it and make it one of my best drawings, ever. I'm trying new stuff with it, and slowly figuring out my own style in digital stuff. Colouring is soooo haaard *chuckles*
