I'm just a quirky raccoon engineer living in the Seattle area, but originally from San Francisco. I also recently finished a year-long exchange Iceland studying geothermal energy. I also go by Snacks, the partial albino raccoon (created by Menagerie Workshop). When I'm not too buried in work / school, I really enjoy attending music festivals / concerts and burning man, weight lifting, skiing, fire spinning, and cooking delicious snacks to share with others :3

Wow, I gues I havent used my FA account in like 2 years since I went back to school, but I guess now is a good time as any to pick it up again.
Just got back from my first European con (Nordic Fuzz Con) with my roommate
solvithor in Stockholm, Sweden. I had a lot of fun and wished it lasted a tiny bit longer since the con got better and better as the days rolled on. Admittedly, I wish I spoke more languages other than English but was very glad that almost everyone there spoke English quite well.
The buffet meals (breakfast and dinner) served at the hotel were quite impressive and I also enjoyed that quite well. Staff was excellent and extremeley helpful and friendly; thanks for letting me do a poi panel!
There were a ton of cute fursuits whom in hindsight, I should have talked to more or at least told them how awesome their suits were. I'm still getting used to fursuitting, but it's getting better and longer with each convention (particularly now that its fully repaired!). Definitely is making me consider going to Confuzzled later in the spring *ponders*
I really enjoyed catching up with some old friends I had not seen in quite a while, like
procyon from Berkeley and
staghorne who I haven't seen since Burning Man 2007.
It was also really fun seeing
khirsha from Sweden again, having only met him back in October last year in Iceland. Was also awesome hanging out with his roommate
leomi from Finland and sharing a cigar on the 6th floor balcony :3
Same goes to Clover, whom I got to share a meal with and a Stockholm adventure (along with seeing the Vasa exhibit with
lightfox , Tifou, Oddity -- who were great company). Clover provided some excellent hommade lemon liquor and was fortunate enough to take some home with me to share with
solvithor Thanks for giving us your time, despite being constantly inundated with con security stuffs! It was also nice having some in depth conversations with his roommate Vustex (?) on Sunday as well.
Also, it was great meeting
Vanupuikko and
Juza who threw an excellent room party on Sunday (and possibly Saturday, but the alcohol isn't letting me remember c.c). I'm not sure who all was rooming with them or remember what their names were, but I do recall meeting :joeydoe: there and someone named Rob. Other memorable experiences included a drunk adventure wandering through the halls and changing room numbers on a certain floor.
We had plastered a random room door with sticknotes and promises of a room party. It turns out, the room was host to someone we knew and they related how someone came to knock on their door at 5 in the morning. They had come out to see who was knocking, only to lock themselves out in their underwear and see that their door had been somewhat vandalized.
Also, despite being the end of the con, it was also fun meeting
keenora on the (long) train-ride back to Arlanda!
Thank you all for being part of my first NFC (and European convention) experience. It was truly a memorable time, and I really hope to see people again either for a different European con, or perhaps one of them in my home country in the USA.
I really do suck at keeping in touch with people online or through FA, but I really enjoyed meeting new people and hanging out in a large furry gathering again. I'm hoping this time round I will do a better job at keeping in touch until next time :P
If any of you are looking to come to cons in the SF Bay Area (Further Confusion) or Seattle (Rain Furrest), drop me a line ^^. Additionally, if you are thinking of Burning Man sometime, would love to see you there as well!
Cheers,
Strife / Snacks!
