A Question About Fonts in my Stories (G)
I have a general question about my stories, and I'm curious what folks think. I'd love to hear your input on this.
I recently realized that my font changed several times in Microsoft Word throughout the years. Not only the font, but the font size.
Example 1: My first published story, "Track Star" is written in Calibri, 11pt font. I stuck with this one for a while, even after Microsoft switched from .doc to the .docx format.
Example 2: "Too Spicy for Scritch" Part 1 was written in the same font, but Part 2 switches to Aptos font, which is slightly larger, even at the same 11pt font size. I didn't notice the change at the time, but there's nearly a month between parts which is more than enough time for them to update the "standard" font without me noticing the subtle change.
Example 3: The standard changed again without my noticing. "Vore Dash" was written in Aptos 12pt font, and every story since then has been the same.
The only reason I realized this is because I found it strange that a 3,000 word story is already pushing into six pages, which seems excessive to me.
What are your opinions? Which, of these three examples, is the most aesthetically pleasing? I want to focus on readability, and as a writer who's in their *coughcough*40's, it DOES help me to write at a slightly larger font, but I don't want to do so at the expense of my readers, especially since the way fonts present here in FA's in-browser reader is DRAMATICALLY different from what I see in Microsoft Word, especially because I work at 150% zoom these days for eye comfort on my huge monitors.
Please let me know in the comments! And if you have alternative font suggestions for readability, I am open to input and trying new options.
