For those that follow me on Bluesky or other sites you'll probably have already seen bits of this, but I wanted to signal boost it here.

There are few things online that last. By virtue of Fur Affinity's continued existence here after two decades, Dragoneer has left a long legacy and a long shadow, longer than many people leave as they come and go in this community.
Indeed, he was here; and although there have been unquestionably bumps along the way, our community is greater for it.

I share everyone's deep, righteous anger at the American healthcare system. Healthcare is a human right, and medically necessary, essential, life-granting care should never be something withheld based upon inability to pay. If there is one thing that I hope arises from the grieving and anger that many of us experiencing, it is a radicalization in favour of love and humanity, one where we have no choice but to fight for a world where no one is left behind.

I have written an article on Cohost reflecting upon Dragoneer's passing, my experience briefly working in hospital billing in Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the lessons that I feel we can take from that experience as we grieve as a community. You can read it here.
