Stories explaining the world

I am amazed how our ancestors told stories to explain the world. Take for instance werewolves stories told as an explanation of why people seem to change into monsters and then change back. Most of these stories link to the phases of the moon. I wonder what stories our decedents will tell about our times. What will they call the people who seem to change from normal people building up society into society destroying monsters? And what will they link it to? And do these monsters every change back to normal? BTW, modern werewolves can be, and often are, much nicer than the one in the ancient stores.
