So I just got a pm on Fursuit Maker Amino from a user seeking a partial maker. They wish to have a pit bull made to use to advocate for the species' safety and to raise awareness of the cruelties done to them and how they are perfectly capable of being sweet, loving, loyal companions.

So upon being asked for a quote, I said I needed to do a quick check on the species to make sure there weren't any expensive details I could leave out. While inspecting photos on Google Images, I realized that pit bulls have a very distinctly pink complexion, which tends to show through their fur around the nose, muzzle, and eyes. One could go ahead and just make a partial and leave this detail out, and they'd be fine. However... I don't want to be unnecessary with costs, but I think this project deserves to have that airbrushed detail done to it. I think the pinkness is really cute, and the customer asked for it to be "adorable". So I expressed this, and they trusted my judgement.

I have never airbrushed before. I let them know that, very clearly. I know airbrushes are expensive. I also told them this. But I told them I would go searching for the machinery and try to find something cheap and of acceptable quality.

Did some searching on Etsy.. It's been a few months since I had last looked on there for airbrush kits. I found one that comes complete with the brush and compressor and hose and all that good stuff for around $60. I double checked the size of the compressor to make sure it was appropriate, and it is. The only issue is I don't think the brush itself is the best for my needs, which I expressed to my customer. I told them I would look for a cheap but effective replacement brush.

This time, since I didn't really find quite what I wanted on Etsy, I took a look on Wish.- Now I know, the quality of the products sold on this website, and the shipping, and everything else is questionable to some: however, I have bought from them numerous times, for multiple things, and most of my experience has been positive (except for a cheap electronic drawing tablet which... turned out not to really be electronic, but I got a refund for that from the website when I let them know what i bought was crap). Therefore, I am willing to try out an airbrush from Wish in the interest of cost and quality. The website has proven to me that if this brush does not turn out to do what was guaranteed, I will get my money back. If this happens I will probably buy one of the bigger, more complete airbrush kits from Etsy, but only if I have to.

I let the customer know that I will not touch the suit head with compressed air until I have practiced and understand how to use the tool. I also let them know I have plenty of the paint needed to do the job, and that I am fine with doing the work if they foot the bill for the machine itself.

They are quite excited! They said they need to double check some things, but they are willing and able to pay the quoted price of $430USD (including shipping). Hopefully, this commission will go through, and this person will help save some lives.

Sometimes airbrushes do make a difference, lol. I have to be honest, I'd really like to have the ability to airbrush suits. It would be a nice way to add some depth to my work, especially for the more simple designs. My bf's Sona has a gradient on multiple places on his body and it would be cool to have the tools to add that detail to his fursuit.
