tarpaw's story "Troubles for Two", featuring my fursona.
But just when Marillon was about to give up, his foot touched what he had been hoping for: the bottom of the pit. This was the pit Raven had taken him too! Slowly and forcefully, the wolf, pushed off of the bottom, his now thickly tarred muzzle emerging from the hot tar like some primordial tar monster. He almost couldn’t open his mouth from all the sticky tar, but he finally got a breath of air.
Lifting his head up out of the tar, Marillon looked around, waiting, hoping, for Tarpaw to feel the bottom and emerge before it was too late.
Nothing.
Marillon waited and waited, but there was still no sign of Tarpaw.
“Oh my god, I’ve killed my friend!” Marillon exclaimed.
But just then, something yanked his tail under the tar, then a big black, thickly coated tar dog erupted from the dark pit, taking in a large gasp of air.
“Tarpaw!” Marillon shouted through tarred teeth.
“Sorry about that...of all the places in this pit...I sank into the one hole.” Tarpaw replied with a chuckle.
Sharing in the joke, The wolf and husky, started their slow wallow out of the tar pit, taking them what felt like an hour just to reach the edge. Finally the set foot on dry solid land, Marillon the first one to slowly claw his way onto the ground, followed by Tarpaw. As Marillon watched the husky emerge from the sticky slime and the look on his face, he couldn’t help but smile, knowing that was exactly how he had looked when he first sand and emerged from this tar pit. Thinking back, he would definitely have to thank his friend raven for introducing him to this secret place.
