Thought I'd help some people out and post the difference in hue between the fabric.com grey shag and the distinctivefabrics grey shag.
ALSO in this photo are two different greys from DF. one nornmal shag good for use on any parts you plan to shave. and a longer pile grey that they offer that is good for tails and hoods :)
I do also realize that even on the websites they state that different dye vats turn out slightly different each time. but I'm going to guess this is probably a norm :b

VERY Different! Wow! That real dark gray with the tinge of blue in it is pretty much my exact envision of Lucious's main gray color. Also, his markings like the cheek markings, ear tips - those are black, but I use a dark dark gray for them in my artwork because its easier to highlight and such. ^_^ (Not sure if I said that or not, my apologies if I am repetitive)
Do you think you are probably going to dye your own? Or just get UTD swatches and choose from there? I'm excited either way :D

migumibish figured out she could order over the phone. She already got her fur and was overall happy with the experience. She informed me there was 25 yards left but I have no idea if it's something they regularly carry or if it was a one time roll. The label just said silver shag fur and the roll was on a table near the cutters.

the first time I ever ordered from them, I had a hard time getting them to ship me my fur. but they sent me a half yard of whatever color extra I wanted for free because of my excessive wait.
So yeah, they do get things wrong or make things tough some times but they try whatever they can to fix it afterward.
I haven't had problems with them since. and besides...free fur of any color is epicsauce right? XD

^ This. DF and Fabric.com both get their fur from the same supplier (Shannon Fabrics). I've gotten the dark variant most of the time with Fabric.com, with one or two light ones. The one time I ordered from DF I actually got a SUPER light shade, very silver.
I always imagine it's kind of like a printer running out of toner - it just keeps getting lighter and lighter until someone goes 'oops, time to refill the ink!'.
