Really? Which movies has that happened in?
Usually the way it seems to go for the big guy with the big gun is he sacrifices himself to distract or hold off the alien hoarde while all his firepower-challenged friends escape down the corridor, or through the pointlessly slowly closing doors.

Honestly, I really don't watch that many movies, but I constantly envision it happening when I see actors wielding guns that are way to big for whatever space they happen to be in. Like the marines with Aliens carrying guns so big they have to have mechanical help to hold them up around in the small rooms and labs.
I've been kinda curious about this movie, but it wasn't an 'OMG, I HAVE TO SEE THIS!' like the first one was...which is judged so harshly because Paul W.S. Anderson directed it.
Frankly, considering he put the Aliens on Earth before Ripley in a way that actually made some sense was great...wasn't so hot on the idea for Requiem...

3 was just really, really poor...if they had done one thing, ANYTHING different, it might have been worthwhile *cough*Newtlives*cough*
As for Resurrection...I take it for what it is. Certainly better then 3, but not as good as the first 2...and AvP was pretty damn good for what it is, compared to the other tripe that we've been fed.

I dunno...the only really good treatment of Alien vs. Predator I've ever seen was the arcade game. You can't go wrong with cyborg Marines and ninja soldergirls...not to mention the idea of humans and Predators actually working together against those nasty xenomorphs!
Resurrection does get a few points from me for having Ron Perlman and a surprisingly high survivor count, I have to admit. I still wish the black guy hadn't died, though...he was awesome.

Well, to be fair, the Anderson movie *did* have the whole "Predators and Humans workin' against the Xenomorphs" idea going on.
It certainly could have been a hell of a lot worst then what it was.
...and just an interestin' side note, back in '95, I got to go to Minnasota(sp?) and actually rode in an elevator with Ron Pearlman himself. Didn't know who he was at the time, but my mom and grandma both knew him...pretty kickass, I'd say.

you never saw Sigma Six eh? Good. It said it was a continuation of the original stories, and well basically Sigma 6 is to GIJOE, what Beast machines was to BW and TFs. Out of character dialog and actions, slow, boring and swarms of Drone bad guys, but overall small cast that got less development then a larger cast predisecer. And I hate GIJOE, and felt this was a disgrace to the original. XP
Course you could go for the Velma Effect: Lose your glasses just as all the carnage starts, and you're bumbling search results in you not getting any kind of harm. But then you find your glasses just in time to see all the carnage around you.
Or to find an important clue that helps you make it to the end of the movie.

Heavy weapons guys never make it just in general. I think it's because they have too much chance of really damaging the enemy, and their weapon is just too much a plot device for the hero/heroine to pick up later. This poor guy could be in charge, fat and have glasses too, and it still wouldn't make his chances much worse. He's just really screwed.
And worse, they look like they like each other. If they had sex they're *both* going down.

I like the Vincent Price version. Effective storytelling beyond it's budget and effects. They kill the zombie/vampire-slaying character in a church, after he picks up some fun stuff in a police armory and defends himself.
The momma vampire he had the hots for telling the children vampires (more or less) "It's ok, the bad Slayer wont hurt you. You're safe now..."
(Not a spoiler, they all have the same ending, some just better told than others

That's funny, I think Ghostbusters Lampshaded that when they added the black character, and a few movies and TV shows have since then (although Sliders is notable that in the entire run of the series the only one to survive intact to the very last episode was in fact the black guy, while the rest either died, got lost between realities forever, or suffered as slaves or other terrible fates).
