I took my puppy to get her groomed and they said her fur was soo matted that they had to shave her. I feel so bad for her, but more importantly right now, I fear for my life...

I forget the name of the place. I knew her fur was really matted, but there is only so much you can do when it gets to that point.

That is correct. We had another dog (both Honey and the other, Bear, passed away) whose fur matted worse that Honey's. Since I had Honey, she never had any issues with matted fur. Unfortunately towards the end, her fur matted and never fully grew back before she passed away.

aww poor girl i'm sorry to hear that :( *hugs* i was just curious cause the keeshounds i get at work are never shaved they just need a damn good bath and bloow out befor brushing to get all the undercoat loose

Her undercoat is what became extremely matted. They could brush the top coat, but the undercoat got nasty. As I am sure you already know, there is no point brushing the top coat if the undercoat is... well... blech.
