Monster Hunter Field Guide Entries:
<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
---OOC intro---
One of the things I have as part of the Col. WulfBane is a leather bound book I use as a "field guide". Originally I was only thinking that the pages would have my own crude sketches and notes but then I realized it would be even better to get different artists to sketch various creatures and I'd add notes on how to handle them. Note that I didn't say kill. I have a few "good" creatures in here, and some of the other neutral entries have some non-lethal methods/ways to avoid them.
This is my "Werewolf" entry. The sketch came from an artist I met in artist's alley named Jaime Carrillo who had a story of a Templar Knight who got cursed into a werewolf. This is the text I have on the opposing page.
The pic here also shows an early sketch I was working through for my fiction of the conditions required to turn a wolf in the character's research into producing an "Artificial Moonlight Projector" to force a turn should I suspect a dangerous were is hiding among humans.
---end OOC---
Species: Werewolf
Rendered By: Jaime Carrillo
Notable Attributes:
* Disguised as a man during the day, can shift into a humanoid wolf form when exposed to the full moon.
* Enhanced strength, speed, & senses.
* Razor sharp claws & deadly fangs
* Spreads a lycanthropic "curse" via bites (blood & saliva)
--- Claw scratches are not infectious
Assessment:
* Feral wolves are best dealt with swiftly to prevent deaths & spreading the curse.
* Resilient to standard attacks, they have a weakness to silver weapons as well as fire & some energy weapons
- Not all are bad!
--- See future research notes on werewolves and other were-creatures
---OOC note---
I intend to put more of my "Research Notes" up in the future that go into some more detail of the fictional explanations for how things work (which helps give a plausible reason for my props & gear).
One of the main ones though is the notion of the bad "Feral-Weres" that go on the uncontrollable killing rampages and the "Civil-Weres" that are in control of their often hidden animal side and are perfectly normal even when shifted into their were-form (you know, regular furies)
