Okay... I lied. It wasn't a $200 improvement.
$150 for the desk.
$25 for the color-controllable LED light strip (originally purchased for another room but didn't work).
$13 for the blackout curtain to cover most* of the window.
$188 improvement. I rounded up, so nyeh. But... but I'll probably get another bit of fabric to drape on the back and hide the cables. So it'll be $200 in the end.
(*Most of the window because the cats will shred it if they can't reach the window to look out.)

Thank you. I try to make things that look great without having to spend a lot. When I was looking at the option of getting a desk, most of the desks were $200-$500 in general unless I went with the really cheesy cheap stuff. This desk was a great pick up at Office Depot and the lights are at Amazon and not expensive. I expect it'll last quite a while as long as the cats don't dissect it.
Already have that. Logitech G510. Waiting for the Corsiar K95-RGB for my next upgrade. ( http://www.corsair.com/en-us/landing/k95-rgb )
Requires GPU driver support. In nVidia, it's Surround mode. I forget what AMD's video cards call it. Makes your desktop and all the monitors into one huge virtual monitor.
Keep in mind, I learned the hard way that trying to do multi-monitor with two is... Yeah... If you like having your character bisected by the bevel, you're fine. T^T

It can be interesting and immersive, but you need to shove your face right up against the main monitor and make sure the peripheral monitors are only in the periphery of your vision because things will go by with a partial fisheye effect there. Also need to make sure you have a "Move everything" addon otherwise looking to the side monitors for info will drive you insane.
