Static-X.
On a school trip to Bracknell when I was 13, I popped into HMV and bought my first CD, being Static-X's 'Machine' album. I was somewhat ridiculed, but the music spoke to me and told me to not care, that sanctity was there in the raw and simple riffs and chugs. A year later my friends who once teased me slowly came around and also started to enjoy it, along with many other bands at the time.
Static-X started my entire love for music as an inspiration. Today I was hit with the news that the front man Wayne Static died of an overdose at the age of 48. Even though I have pretty much moved well on from my metal phase, there are some roots that you don't forget, and once their mortality hits you in the face, you appreciate it far more than you ever believe you would have.
Here's to his unconditional rage, his truly unique voice and fucking amazing hair. Here's to the sound he made that helped inspire me to do what I do. If you love my art, then you thank the late Wayne Static for having a hand in molding it into what it is today.
Here's to you Wayne Static. Rest in Peace.

Feeling a bit old now! I was 22 when Wisconsin Death Trip came out, but I loved that album and many of the others they put out. Hell, I used to work with a guy who did his hair and beard like Wayne because he idolized him so much. Sad to see Wayne pass on so young.
Awesome pic hun, fucking ace
