holly is much more pretty to me so I prefer that look in place of mistletoe. Plus Mistletoe is a parasitic plant so really nasty to have growing around.

The confusion is so universal that if you Google Image Search for 'Mistletoe', about half of the results are holly leaves.

I think the whole thing with Mistletoe, is it's a parasite..so you "suck face" to shoe show "No hard feelings for plucking you, parasitic plant thing"

Also, the traditional way to harvest mistletoe is with a gun, shooting it off the top of the trees it grows on

Thank you thank you thank you! I'm a tree care professional, so I deal with this sort of stuff on a daily basis, and it drives me absolutely bonkers that so many people don't know the difference. Holly is a small evergreen tree... and Mistletoe is a parasite that effects many hardwood trees. They aren't related in any way whatsoever, and look nothing alike!

Mistletoe berries... Supposedly, the reason it's a fertility symbol is that the white juice filling the berries was believed to be the semen of the gods. Hence, it became a fertility symbol.

...There is definitely some way to make this into something kinky. Unfortunately I have no idea what it is.

Lol you know this actually urks me a bit when people confuse the two :\ It shouldn't, but it does x3 I guess just a peeve of mine. They are so different, it's crazy how many don't see the differences lol. Thank you for this lol it made me giggle.
