"I couldn't tell you why he did it. I mean, he's always had this thing for transhumanism and self-improvement, but this seemed so....drastic. From what I can tell all that remains of his organic body is his head, heart, and left arm, and I know enough about him to know they're not entirely unaugmented, either. maybe half of that 'meat' is bionic enhancements and armor plating. Not to mention those eyes
Part of me wonders why he didn't go all the way."
So yeah, I decided to upgrade a bit. Not rendering old pics irrelevant, as he'd still wear fake skin and fur a lot of the time, especially around those who would normally get creeped out. The thing that would stand out most would be the eyes (pupils are square now). Why change? It felt right. And I'm not getting more in-depth... for now.

You're running Linux under there I hope? A Windows crash would be very unflattering with you flopping around on the ground while you try to recover from a BSOD. :3
And nice! Looks pretty amazing. Very intricate detailing in all of the servos, electric muscles and mechanical bits. I also like that glow effect.

"Augmentation; it's an addiction, plain and simple. But unlike recreational addictions, this one doesn't make you simply feel better. this one actually makes YOU better. Though much like drugs, and adrenaline, There is a point of no return. it's different with everyone, but they know that point when they know there is no going back. No amount of cloned limbs and regeneration sequences could recover what they willingly gave up.
Strype is already walking a dozen hazardous edges, but I have never felt he has passed that line yet. The man may be crazy as a Hyaenidae priestess, but his sense of self has never once been in question.
.... Help us all, should he ever start down that slope.

The years long development of your character remind me of one of the Magic The Gathering novels(test of metal) about a mechanist named Tezzeret who slowly replaces hes flesh with an all-powerful metal. I love the transhumanism themes. I remember before stype was very augmented and then to now is really interesting character development. You start with a few enhancements, and it just snowballs from there. One wonders how far is too far. :]
And for some reason I just keep hearing the Terminator 2 song in my head when looking at him.

When I favorited this it was because of the emotional impact it had. Part of me knows you're stronger, faster, sturdier than before. Another part of me feels like I missed something. Another part of me wonders if you still have warmth, if all that metal wont just freeze my fingers.
Not sure what all I'm saying anymore but this is great work.Makes me really question my own mortality.

It's always been an interesting choice, replacing part of one's body with a machine. As noted, you can replace what you had with something stronger, or faster, but to find a machined that adapts to the same degree that an organic system can do is truly the challenge in my mind.
I'm biased, being a cheetah. The concept of cyborg reassignment for me is a particularly tangled one, as there are psychological issues to be considered on top of the physical ones. How do you resolve the idea that before with your organic body, you knew you always had the potential to go that little bit faster, that little bit harder. Cheetahs have been pushing the evolutionary envelope for millennia, and it's now part of our psychological makeup that we are that ragged edge, and are supposed to be constantly trying to tear it a little further. What happens when you put a hard limit on it due to being mechanical? How do you still push that edge? Can you turn that specialization, and its inherent flaws bred into it, into a stronger whole by introducing the machine to it? Can you still... strive, as you did before?
(And yes, there's a lot of GitS theory in here,)
I think this is a good example of trying to find that balance between the lure of the machine and still tightly grasping the identity that allowed this transformation to occur.

WOW! I saw the sketch on Twitter and this turned out to look a lot more awesome than I had imagined. Good job!
As someone who has been silently following your work from the start, I too wonder why you still haven't gone all the way through. Especially considering that, from what I know of Strype's world, technology is advanced enough to allow a 100% prosthetic body with no bad side effects besides what is expected in the pros and cons of being machine vs organic.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but my hunch is that you still retain organic parts in your body for the need to feel alive. As Ghost in the Shell puts it so well, being full machine does makes one question their own existence. Are your memories of once being an organic real? Or are they just part of your programming...?
