If it wasn't for the incessant footsteps he could hear, he might have had a clearer mind on deciding this. The wolf had managed to secure himself in his basement-turned-homemade lab with surprising swiftness. The muffled voices could be heard as he let his ear stay close to the door until he carefully moved down the steps to the mostly clean area. He wasn't a scientist by any extreme, just someone who enjoyed small experiments and fun reactions. Of course, this left his mind needing a small sating of curiosity. The metal tray that held various utensils took a noisy dive as he winced from the sounds. Silently, he cursed himself for not watching where he was backing up and heard the movements stop above. They heard it too. He had only wanted to leave the small assassination counsel and live his own life. Of course, they didn't take kindly to those that knew secrets and wanted out. They also wanted his information. At least, before they killed him.
Klein bolted over towards the nearest table and began tapping at a few phials, silently murmuring to himself. It had to be here. He never let anyone else down here and there was no reason for him to take it anywhere. There! His fingers grabbed one of the glass tubes, corked at the top to keep the liquid secured inside. The blue contents swished about as he turned to look up the steps. They were scouting for him thoroughly. Furniture was being overturned for any type of documents he may have, all doors being torn open, and everything being wrecked. Surrender was an option. It wouldn't be much of one, though. They would torture him until they got what they wanted, then eliminate him. A glance at the blue liquid with the hint of a yellow outline made him tense up. Why did he have this? He had spent a few years just toying with the idea of making an altering formula that worked on genetics. It was only capable of activating based on his DNA. Anyone else to ingest or inject it would probably either die or be incapacitated for a while. He hadn't even tried it himself was the problem. There was no guarantee that even he was safe from his own experiment.
The loud bang at the door made him jump lightly, nearly dropping his only chance. The wolf sighed and looked between the door and the special vial. How long would it take to kick in? Would he be dead before anything happened? Would it be the cause of his death? Another smash at the door, creaking and groans being heard clearly. They knew where he was and weren't about to give up anytime soon. It was a dire circumstance and he didn't have time to think it all through. They could have got hold of his address book and might begin hunting down or harming his friends. He couldn't let that happen. The cork popped easily, bouncing to the floor as he took a deep breath and stared into the open container. Would it last long? Would anything even happen? Another smash and he sighed, tipping it up and drinking down the vile contents. A cough and groan, he set the empty glass piece aside and leaned over the table.
Well? Was it just a nasty drink he concocted? Nothing felt different. Was he simply going to be at a loss here? No. He was going to make a stand, at the very least. There was no reason to go down without a fight. He knew most of their tactics, but it was him against possibly a dozen or more. Still, it wasn't like he-Oh, that felt different. His stomach turned and his body hunched forward, feeling like something was squeezing the breath out of him. This was a mistake! The wolf's fingers gripped the glossy table, groaning in agony as he knelt down. This wasn't like he imagined in any sense. Those ears of his tilted back as he let out a pitiful howl, head ducked low and eyes shut tight.
"Relax~"
Who was that?
"Just relax and let me take care of it all.."
Great, now he was having split personalities?
"Not exactly, but it's not far from the truth."
What's happening?
"Don't fret~ Just go to sleep and this whole ordeal will be taken care of soon enough."
Was the tonic doing this?
"It might be, but you're thinking too hard. You made this choice, now just take a seat and you won't have to worry."
Klein opened his eyes, nearly sweating at the adrenaline pumping through his body. It was clear that the tonic was doing something, but he didn't know exactly what. Why was it so hard to breathe? His vision blurred as he felt his body shift and pop. Muscles were starting to expand while he felt the ripping pain shoot through him. Was he yelling? He couldn't tell anymore. In fact, he couldn't even hear the door being beaten down. It hurt everywhere and the entire time there was that small voice in the back of his mind telling him to relax. After he felt the shirt rip, he finally grit his teeth and accepted the suggestion, to the best of his ability.
More of his clothing ripped and torn at the seams. His frame swelling from the potion he had taken as he felt himself..not exactly be himself. Something was different now. He wasn't feeling the pain anymore but he could see his body changing. His bones would have to be lengthening some from the looks of his fingers. Was all that swelling really muscle? How did he accumulate this mass? When his head moved down, he saw small pools of blood, possibly from the inside of his maw to allow more...what? Teeth? What was he becoming? Was he some monster now? Why couldn't he control himself? It felt like he had no control at all. Just a backseat in his own body. Who was controlling him now, then?
"I am~," he heard the voice whisper. It sounded a bit like him but something was off.
He didn't understand why this was happening.
"No need to know everything right now. I only have a little bit of time to play, so just enjoy the show."
What?
"You created me. Created..this. Now, let's get a good look at what's changed for the next hour.."
The slightly longer and more muscled arm reached out, grabbing the fallen tray from earlier as it flipped it around to get a good look at him. What he saw made his heart skip, wanting to push away but he had nowhere to go. Those cold eyes stared back into him, altered to slit-like pupils and a slightly elongated snout. The entire body of his was a bit more bulky and taller. His long hair fallen out but some thicker fur along the back of his neck, it looked. He had heard tales of Jekyll and Hyde but never thought it would ever be a possibility. He didn't like it. This was more than just a mistake and he now had to live with it.
What's going to happen?
"How many are there?"
Possibly a dozen, maybe more.
"Good~ Let's count each one. Just..don't expect this to be pretty.."
What has he done?
