I had a collie a long time ago took him for a walk late at night on a road and wondered what a strange sound was stopped and checked him over and the water droplets his feet were flicking up had frozen into his chest and belly fur.


Poor dog was rattling as he walked, thankfully his fur never collected snow like this but he did get it building up between his toes

LOL he wore the "wrong shoes"? hehe

And this is why I stay in my nice warm jungles and grasslands... lol... in Detroit

My escape artist cat looked like that a few months ago when he bolted for the great outdoors into his new nemesis... snow! He was begging to be picked up and carried back in after about 8 feet. XD

This happened to my cat about a month ago! I had to hold her in the sink and run water over her belly until all the snow melted off. She was not pleased, but she didn't fight me; she must have known I was helping. X3

Guess I am an unusual lion because I love playing in the snow... if there is real white stuff in winter here in Berlin. Mostly it is just grayish wet and dirty smut that lies around and is no use.

This is precisely the look of my cat when he snuck out this winter and quickly came home upon realizing that snow isn't really that magical.

Had a dog that would happen to, she was a Cocker-Spaniel/wiener-dog mix so she was longer and lower than a full spaniel which led to her long full collecting snow-balls of various sizes during the winter. She was named Lady-dog. You captured the clumping well! XD

This happened to my dog actually.

She went outside in her First snow or Second Snow for Winter,
and she came back in with snow stuck to her underbelly up to her neck.
Had to quickly try to get it off before she got too cold!

Hmm, maybe he bathed too recently? If the fur is a bit oily (like two or three days after the last bath for most animals), the snow won't stick to it so much. My dog gets this problem when he's clean and goes out in the snow.
