I like that guy's character! You can tell he's spent a fuckton of time studying genet facial features.
When I first designed the character his facial features and personality were also heavily influenced by an old lion character of mine named Sytobi. I uh... kinda dig the bitchy resting face but maybe I'm biased. :I http://i.imgur.com/swFq8qY.png
I also drew this before I learned that genets' eyes are fixed more or less permanently forward!

I guess every of us have a personal touch/strength/sense for the originality ...If we can invest enought time in our art - with faith - we can create special and personal things...Sometimes with messages (that I find more important)
The Doctor is one of my favourite one...inspired me a lot...But I guess I can believe to my eyes ...and you find your way and really good to see the "evolution" of your art ...Does not matter what did you use - which animal parts - to create you spiritual self , the final result is fascinating :) Another fact...by the time (with our ages) we have stronger and stronger connection with our fursonas and we can make them more detailed...and this is a beautiful process :)

My black genet was originally a scout/spy on a MUCK and he only spoke in whisper commands. He's always been my favorite character! I think this is the first picture I ever drew of him, about 10 years ago. http://i.imgur.com/Te3wNvo.png

This is my reason why I used the "spiritual" word instead of fursona first. I bet most of our characteristics live in our characters :) This touch make them persistent member in our life...In my case it's a bit complex and my main self - the sister - is represent something I would love to be , and my duality, the inner intervals...our eyes always the same - by colour - ...because this is the "spiritual window" ...But hard thing ...mostly if the people identify you with your character :)
