A couple months ago, I participated in a live art event in a bar in Vancouver. Because I was going into Vancouver on my own on transit, I decided it wouldn't be a good idea to take my Copics with me. They take up a lot of space, and if something happened to them it would pretty much kill my ability to do my original colour art.... because there's no way in hell I could afford to replace them. So I dug out my watercolours. And my watercolour pad. Which I hadn't touched in.... 12 years?*
It was a bit hard to see at the bar, even with lamps, so its not the best colouring job I could do (I wanted the bg wash to be more saturated but I didn't realize it was still too light). I used coloured Copic liners for the lineart, and Derwent watercolours with a water brush for the colour. At the end of the night, the pieces done by the featured artists were raffled off to those who came out to see us. My piece ended up going home with a fellow artist :)
* Why did I stop working with watercolours? I don't really have the space needed to paint, so I found markers easier to work with. I live and work in a 9x10' room, and THIS is my workspace: https://www.patreon.com/posts/real-.....k-shot-6769946
Doing this piece made me want to explore watercolours again, but I can't spare the time to practice. I'm hoping that support for my art over on Patreon will continue to grow so that I can do this. Please check me out at https://www.patreon.com/mechart if you'd like to help!
