Sculpting 101: Choosing your clay
I often get the question of what clays to use and recommendations, so here's my first guide! I plan to have a series of guides and tutorials in the time to come. For now though, here are some clay basics.

Polymer clay is technically oil-based. Some people complain about the oil residue it leaves on their hands even.
If you're talking about professional grade modeling clay that's typically used in SFX work, I'm afraid I can't be of much help there. :c I have heard good things about Monster clay, but I'd have to do some research before actually recommending any of them.

Polymer might be for you then. ^^
I've never worked with Monster clay personally, but if it's a softer clay and you want something similar, perhaps look into Souffle polymer clay. I didn't add it to the list because I know little about it, but many reviews say it's very soft and bakes very strong. Might be something to check out! ^^

Oh, nice! I tried to pick up blender years ago, but it was too complicated so I stopped, haha. I think Zbrush is more "fashion-over-function", in that it can make really detailed, pretty models, but programs like blender can make them function and move. I could be wrong though, I don't know much about it. ;w;
Oh, for sure, it's a completely different world. Even still, digital sculpting is certainly not an easy task! :P
Haha, same here.

I started a workflow series on how to sculpt called "Lets Sculpt Furrys" but it died due to lack of interest.. lol.. If you ever want to try picking up Blender again head on over to my youtube and try watching a couple episodes. They are an hour long each and show everything I do from start to finish.
I've always found that watching the process can teach more than books or write ups..
