It's Aku. If you remove all his face features and do nothing else you basically get the same effect.

That there is a good Aku ^^. We definitely need more fanart like this, in the style of the old opening.

The teeth are the only things that jump out at me. In the old they were outlined in red, in the new they aren't.

Greg Baldwin is probably the best substitute they could have gotten for Mako (and that's a compliment), but I'm not liking this new direction they've taken his personality. I hope Aku shapes up soon.

Because if you mean the comedic angle, this *is* a guy who made up bedtime stories to get kids to hate Jack.

But the thing is, he's not being comedic. He's worn down, listless, and obsessing over trivialities. That's not the Master of Evil I learned to love to hate. If Jack were to walk into his throne room right now, Aku would probably just let Jack kill him.

Incidentally, anyone else hoping that we get to learn Jack's real name by the end of the series?

You know, I think they're doing it on purpose. Think about it, as good as Greg Baldwin is, do you really think he can pull of the laugh properly? They're keeping him depressed so that he doesn't have to do it.

Personally I think his first appearance in 10+ years was far too comical. He didn't seem threatening or evil at all. They should have saved the comedy for after a display of his great malevolence. When you've been gone for so long, you need to make your return with a good impression and a bang. Imagine someone who has not seen the original seeing the new Aku for the first time, they wouldn't understand why he is so dangerous and threatening, they'll just regard him as this big goofball.

Maybe the 50 years knowing that he has an immortal samurai who can kill him running around he's failed to have taken care of himself E-RAD-I-CA-TED his sanity.

I have not been able to see it. Who did they get to replace his original voice actor?

They got the same guy who replaced Mako as Iroh in "Avatar: The Last Airbender", Greg Baldwin. It's not bad, but it's still clear that it isn't the original.

Still sad that Mako is gone. But no one lives forever.

I got a tiny bit of a Discord vibe in the scene where Aku was talking to a psychiatrist version of himself.

"Aku, baby~ How's it hanging, boss?"
