This is a typical male cockatrice, of the cliff-dwelling "greater" variety. It is of the same base species as Sera, though she is clearly a radically genetically-altered example of such. The high-contrast patterning of its feathers indicate its gender, along with the horn - females typically possess a more uniform dark green coloration, and are hornless. They normally grow between six and seven feet in height, from the ground to the top of their heads, horn notwithstanding, and can reach well over fifteen feet in length at the tip of its tail. The largest males can surpass eight feet in height and over twenty feet in length. They are highly territorial and solitary creatures, but are known to form long-lasting mated pairs.
They are exceedingly dangerous, known to have a penchant for preying on humanoids. Though lacking the capacity for true language they are excellent at mimicry, capable of duplicating almost any voice or words that they hear. They use this ability to lure unsuspecting prey away from larger groups, were they can attack with impunity. Once the cockatrice springs its trap, it will often attempt to paralyze its prey with its gaze. This serves not only to limit the prey's ability to flee or fight, but to maximize the cockatrice's enjoyment of its meal - which is best savored while still alive...
CoyoteSoot (https://www.furaffinity.net/user/coyotesoot/ ) was nice enough to help me refine the design of an adopt I purchased a while back. I don't currently have a use for this creature yet, I just really wanted to "perfect" the design! But perhaps he will find himself a role in the near future.
