My entry for a design contest by Ellitchhizui at FurVilla
I imagined the character to be a sort of demon or monster from a different realm of chaos. They do not wish to harm people, but rather study them and the world we live in. They're curious and have an almost child like fascination for nature and natural disasters. The massive energy at play probably feel familiar but at the same time different as it's not a constant flow of chaos. This might also explain why they seem uneasy and annoyed when things are too tidy and organized. They also enjoy walking around in quiet and/or eerie places looking for trinket, feathers or other objects of interest.
Their original appearance has multiple slit pupil eyes all over the body, which made them rather terrifying. After seeing how people enjoy color and fabric, they sewed on different pieces of fabric to their body in an attempt to becom less intimidating. By covering up their eyes, they also lost a lot of vision. The button eyes are functional, but very limited, so they rather rely on a bird friend to guide them. The bird communicate mainly by different squeaks, but might also use telepathy.
The mask is permanently fixed to the head and can not be changed. Making expressions with the face is thus not possible, but their body language is pretty easy to read. The mouth on it's chest is mainly for consuming energy, but it can also speak. It sound gutural and very basic, but still understandable.
Their personallity is mostly calm and tend to melt into the background, despite being a rather tall monster-looking creature. The most noticible change of behaviour is when they discover something new or strange. This makes them exited and eager. They also have an habbit of making sniffing noises when stressed and nervous, but the reason for this is yet unclear.
I've seen a lot of videos on character creation, but I didn't fully realize how useful it is to have an idea of the personallity and quirks of the character before you even start to draw it. I feel like I was able to make a weird and random desing which still made sense for the first time in forever. So thanks to the host of this contest for making me a better artist x3
