"What do you mean they're gone?"
"I'm sorry Mr. Vice President. They were there last night when I left." Terrence stammered. "I don't know what happened!"
"My goodness," the elder statesman mumbled, rubbing his eyes in frustration. "If you want something done right you have to do it yourself."
"Ok Terrence, stand back. I'll take over from here."
Relieved, Terrence stepped back into the corner or the pen. He felt terrible! He was entrusted with one job, and he had screwed it up! He was glad it was in better hands now. The veep was a real wiz in situations like this!
He heard the Vice President muttering something under his breath then suddenly there was a puff of smoke!
"All right boys, he's ready!" the Vice President shouted.
Out of nowhere several secret service agents came rushing in and picked up Terrence! He was stunned. What the hell was this?! Was he being trucked off to Gitmo for loosing a couple birds?? He swallowed hard, still to shocked to cry out.
They burst through a set of double doors and Terrance blinked awkwardly as he was blinded by the morning sun. What? This wasn't the back of a van. They were in the rose garden!
The agents plopped him down in the middle of the garden, quite unceremoniously.
As the agents stepped aside, the President came strolling up behind him. Terrance's heart jumped. Maybe he could explain everything! The President would understand!
"Ok you turkey, lets do this."
Turkey? What was with the insults? And what was this, the 70's?
Movement on the other side of his head caught his eye. What the hell, why was the press here? Terrence had a bad feeling. Was he about to be publicly reprimanded in front of the entire country? All for losing a couple of stupid turkeys??
"Gravyface, by the power vested in me, you are hereby pardoned!"
Terrence blinked as cameras flashed and shutters clicked. Pardoned? Oh thank goodness! He knew the President would understand! He turned to thank him, but all that came out was:
"Gooooooobble gobble gobble gobble gobble!"
