Let me guess: Destroyermen 2044?
(If you don't know the reference, the Destroyermen novels by Taylor Anderson involve a race of anthropomorphic lemurs (called "Lemurians by the humans) in war with a race of dinosaur-descended creatures. There is also some guerilla combat in those books, but the technology is only at WW2 level.)

Really? If you'd replace the reptiloid's gear with leather armour and a musket and give the Lemurians kilts and brass WW2 helmets, the scene could have been taken right out of one of those books.
