I've got a few more one-offs lined up that I've been salvaging from both past and recent warmups. These will have a unifying lore of sorts. I'm not selling the species, just individual characters. So please don't run off making derivatives.
Transcript:
Yesterday I came across the most astounding species I can only describe as a sort of flightless gryphon. Back up a bit I was out looking for an herb the locals requested as a test of good will and common interest. Naturally I ended up scaling a chossy cliff buried in the canopy; no idea whether there was another way down or not. I heard it before I saw it. Stupid devil nearly startled me right off the damn ledge.
It didn't seem much bothered by my lingering to sketch it.
Inflatable throat pouch?
A thorax or enlarged tail? I plan on coming back to see if there are any others. Surely it's not one of a kind.
Vestigial wings? It had a powerful leap. I saw it jump 30 ft to another tree after some unseen prey.
Unfortunately I forgot to bring a spare pencil and this one is already a nub or I'd have done more. This is one of the few species I've come across that had no inclination to dart off halfway through a drawing.
The closest approximation to it's fantastic colors. I didn't have any on me at the time. I'll be sure to pack properly for the next trip out.
