The Bonehead fish, is actually a familiy of fish that like the name implies have a rather hard bonelike head.
All species have this common as well as a long pointy chin that they use to plow through sand and substrate to find easy prey.

They are impressive hunters and; depending on the species, are great chase predators.
Most rely on quick burst hunts or finding prey hiding among sand or rocks and some even lay in ambush.
They basically fill the place that sharks have in our world and come in many shapes and sizes.

Boneheads have circular gills in wich they need to maintain a gap to create "breathing". Just like our Moray eel`s.
A very few species, mainly the chasers, have very large gills to allow more oxygen to be aquired.

Not all species are well known but in all of them the female is usually rounder in shape.
They all give birth to live young. On an average of 3-6 little ones all ready to start the hunt.

Unlike our sharks though, a good number of Bonehead species are rather tasty and are commonly fished in zones where fishing isent regulated.
They are also an interesting target for sport fishing.
