So I know I've already gotten two pictures from
The.Art.of.White.Heart , and the two that I already got are both fantastic. But I like this one even more. This one is very special to me. It features my character as a cub, along with Swift Heart Rabbit on the left, True Heart Bear in the middle, and Love A Lot Bear on the right.
Ever since I was 5 or 6 years old, not only have I loved the Care Bears, but I've always secretly adored this song and video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqqwe8AYnvw
Especially the part from 1:27 to 1:48, where True Heart picks up Grumpy. I've always felt really special when I see how he gets all of the attention from True Heart and Noble Heart, and when everyone sings "I like you, I like you!" and "Everybody likes you!"
I know it's sappy and even cringe-worthy, but I've always loved it. And I always dreamed of getting a pic that grabs the same exact vibe using my own character.
But thanks to White Heart and his awesome skills, I finally have one.
I LOVE the way he drew Love a Lot. I've always enjoyed her as a character, and to me she's the perfect one to get be giving Digitz the attention and pinching his cheek. And White Heart drew her and her facial expression PERFECTLY.
But I love the motherly apsect of True Heart as well. It really grabs the vibe of her proudly showing off Digitz and adds to the feeling of love surrounding him.
But I also love the baby outfit that Digitz is wearing. Even though I went a little intense on it, I love seeing him wear all of the Care Bear cub clothes that are in the movie.
The amount of love in this pic and everything it makes me feel is so powerful. I absolutely adore it.
And once again, White Heart was completely fantastic to work with. He consistently allowed me to edit the picture and was willing to draw many variations so I could choose exactly what I wanted. He got it PERFECT.
I cannot compliment White Heart enough. For the kind of Care Bear pics I like, he's one of the absolute best.
Here’s White Heart’s upload. Make sure you go fave it and check out his other art too!

I've never seen the original care bear movies/shows/whatever, but I'd like to. I was born in '99 and it seems that care bears weren't as big when I was a kid as they were when you were a kid. maybe I just missed it though - I wasn't allowed to watch much TV. however, despite not knowing anything about his/her personality except from that clip you just provided, wish bear is my favorite. the neighborhood kids liked care bears and had a bunch of stuffed ones, so I got a glow-a-lot wish bear for myself in 2009 or so. my mom has since given it away as she has with many of the toys I enjoyed when I was a kid, but I did find a small one (not the same) from 2002 at a thrift shop with the tags still on it, and it sits on top of the other toys in the hammock above my bed. as they're rather expensive for a college kid to buy on their own, I asked my mom for a replacement glow-a-lot for xmas :)
and for what it's worth, I think the 3D-or-whatever care bears they have now look terrible. I mean really, they're just bad. the 2D stuff is much better.

I totally agree with you about the new ones.
To me, every version of the Care Bears that they made after the 80s hasn't been good. I basically pretend they don't exist.
I was born in 1983, which coincidentally is the year the Care Bears debuted. The original specials (The Land Without Feelings, Care Bears Battle the Freeze Machine) came out first...the animation and voices aren't good, but I still kind of like them.
In 1985, the company DiC made about 20 episodes. Some people like those the best. They have Japanese style animation, and the bears are more pure of heart and just help kids.
However, my favorite version is the Nelvana version, which is more like the clip from the movie I posted. To me those are more cartoony.
The two movies Nelvana made are my absolute favorites. While very kiddie, I really like all of the cuddliness and love in them. I watched them when I was around 3 years old.
Then they made the Nelvana cartoon episodes. The first season was very good, IMO. After that they slipped...I don't like those episodes as much. It started becoming much more generic, and they only ever used about 6 of the characters for the most part. There are still some good episodes in there, but not as good as the first season.
At that point, they had about 14 bears, and 10 of the cousins (other animals). They also had a few extras...True Heart Bear, Noble Heart Horse, Grams Bear, and the cubs Hugs and Tugs.
After that, they've come up with all kinds of new bears and changed the colors and symbols of some of the old ones. Again, I kind of ignore all of that...I just focus on the main ones they had in the Nelvana series.
So anyway, that's my brief Care Bear history.
But I like Wish Bear too. They didn't use her as much as they should have. But she has a big moment in The Land Without Feelings, a few nice moments in the first Care Bears Movie, and they highlight her a lot in this episode. Check it out if you like her!

ah, yeah. there's nothing like what you grew up with. like, the new lion king looks good (to me anyway - other people are totally against it), but it'll never compare to the original.
I just looked up screencaps of the DiC episodes. they do look sort of weird, specifically the eyes...
I feel you on the limited character thing. when I was a kid I thought there were just six. I recently discovered there are a lot more.
my favorite teacher from high school called me "care bear" affectionately once, as my nickname/preferred IRL name is Bear. it was honestly one of the best sort of compliments I've gotten and it's stuck with me.
I'll check out that video now!

Yeah, the Nelvana version is definitely the best. All of the TV episodes are on YouTube. Two of the special Nelvana movies are also in YouTube..the Adventures in Wonderland and the Nutcracker Suite. They’re ok but not great, IMO. Unfortunately, the two main Nelvana movies (The Care Bears Movie and the Care Bears Movie 2: A New Generation) are no longer on youtube, at least not for free.
yeah, I looked up the Care Bears Movie 2: A New Generation and couldn't find it free either :( bummer, you'd think that it would be on there due to its age, but I guess not.
recently I found out they have full episodes of Between the Lions, which was one from my childhood. lots of memories coming back that I forgot I had!

Yeah, it used to be on YouTube, but not anymore...I guess YouTube made them take it down. There is a really bad low quality version of the whole movie posted, but it’s slowed down so the voices are messed up and the angle is really zoomed in...so you wouldn’t get the full experience of it.
I like both movies, but New Generation is the special one to me. You get to see all,of the Care Bears as cubs during the first part of the movie (there’s even a scene where they get their diapers changed as a song plays...ever since I was a kid I always liked that and it was the very beginning of my babyfur feelings).
But all six songs from the movie (with video) are posted on YouTube in good quality. All of the songs from the first movie are also posted. I like all of the songs from the second movie and most from the first movie. My favorite from the first movie is Home is in Your Heart.

I like all six. “I Care for You” isn’t great, but the diaper change scene makes up for it. “Growing Up” and “Forever Young” are fantastic.
Unfortunately the plots of the two movies conflict. The origin stories of the Care Bears and Cousins are completely different and don’t align. I read somewhere that they made a Care Bear comic that tried to explain it all.

Yeah, I've seen a few cub assembly line pics in the past, but not many, and I don't know if I've seen any directly related to the Care Bear cub assembly line. But ever since I was a little kid I loved the fluffy, cuddly way the cubs get changed, bathed, fed and put back to bed. Even their used diapers are clean! I guess Care Bears excrete things like rainbows, hearts and sprinkles!
Seriously, though, I always loved the cute way they get changed. It makes the whole thing really cuddly to me.

Oh, totally. For me the best parts of "I Care For You" are John and Dawn caring for the cubs.
The context of the scene is lost a little bit since you're not able to watch the movie. But basically John and Dawn are too kids who feel they aren't good at anything. There are two adult Care Bear characters, and one goes down to Earth to try to make John and Dawn (and their third friend, Christy) feel better. She takes John and Dawn back up to meet the cubs, but then an emergency pops up and the two Care Bear characters need to go.
They ask John and Dawn to watch the cubs. When they get back, they find that John and Dawn were able to successfully take care of the cubs on their own (with a little help from the tiny star/heart and the assembly line), which boosts John and Dawn's confidence and makes them happy again.
So I really love that about the scene...it works out for everyone. The cubs get to be loved for by John and Dawn, John and Dawn enjoy taking care of them, and John and Dawn also gain a newfound confidence in their abilities. It's a total win for everyone!

Indeed!
I actually read an article saying that maybe the writers of the song worded the chorus in a way that it could be just like a gay pride song. Even though I never interpreted it that way, when I went back and listened to it I agreed that it does kind of sound like that.
Of course, it doesn't have to be. I love all of the lyrics in the song regardless.

I would say go for it!
The tricky part for me is finding artists who draw great Care Bear work. However, you may not be as picky as I am with how the Care Bear characters look. I really like having them look just like the Nelvana version. But if you like them in any kind of style, you could probably find a lot of artists willing to draw them in their own style.

He's definitely open for commissions.
He's not a babyfur artist. However, he does draw Care Bear versions of fursonas, and he has no problem drawing Care Bear style cubs. I'm not sure about the details of what he's willing to alter...he may only draw the tied cloth version of diapers, for example. But I'm not sure, you'd have to ask him.
He takes payment through British pounds, but that's not an issue if you have Paypal...it will convert everything for you.
A one character commission from him costs 65 pounds (which translates to about $83 dollars). That is on the higher end, but since I LOVE the Nelvana style of Care Bears so much, for ME, it's 100% worth it. However, that's why I've tried to get multi-character pics so much, because each additional character is only an extra 10 pounds....so I feel like I get much more bang for my buck.
However, he did do this icon for someone which is MUCH less expensive...only 10 pounds (about $13).

That's a great deal considering the whole upper body is visible. Of course, if you got a cub icon, the diaper wouldn't be visible.
So again, for ME, because I love how he draws the characters EXACTLY like the Nelvana style (IMO), I think the pictures are totally worth the cost.
Like most artists, he does require the entire payment be made upfront before any work is done. However, he is VERY good to work with. He sends sketches before finalizing pics, and he's willing to make edits until the picture is just right. He also has done my pictures in a very timely manner....I didn't have to wait more than a week for any of them.

Yeah, like you, Grumpy was always my favorite. And it was largely due to this movie. The two parts that I always loved, ever since I was a little kid, were this part (where True Heart picks him up, Noble Heart pinches his cheek, and they sing “I like you, I like you!”), and during”I Care for You” where Dawn bottle feeds and burps him after the diaper change mishap. That poor little cub even had bad things happen to him!
