Mkay, so I did a remix of Terra's Theme from Final Fantasy VI. Not 3, 6. SIX. Because apparently America was not cool enough until ten years later to get even a remake of the REAL FF3. Not to mention 2 and 5. so to try and cover up the major bitch slap in the face against us, 6 was dubbed 3 over hurr, and most of us were none the wiser. Until NOW...
Okay, now that my rant is over, it's a remix. It's my voice, my lyrics, my piano playing, my arranging, my editing. In other words, this whole thing is my fault. XO3 But you can blame
BillyWuff because it was supposed to be a collaboration, but more turned into a "HEY CHECK IT OUT BILLY" and then he says "OMG FINISH DIS YOU SHOULD POST IT." Sorry if you get hate spam Billy. I still love you. XO3
Lyrics:
Every single day, in the darkness
Everything I say shows the starkness
Of the doomsday that's upon us;
No reprieve: no escape.
Even if we could, where would we go?
Somewhere far away, where we don't know
Anyone who's there? Not a soul?
That will not be my fate.
For I love this land, and it's people.
And the way we stand makes us equal.
I proclaim it loud from this steeple.
I will not run away.
Now on my own.
Here in my home.
I'll never leave.
Even after this life is at an end.
Nothing that I said in this instance,
Nothing that I did made a difference.
All that matters now is the feeling
That I felt on that day.
As I stopped and stared the horizon
Looming over there in the distance
Seemed a little closer than ever.
I did not run away.

Very nice! love FF IV; including the music, especially "Terra's Theme"; I had even come up with my own lyrics to it! I guess great minds think alike!
Though I wish I could record more than a one minute blip, using windows sound recorder; it seems that an audio submission of this caliber is beyond my reach.
Oh well, FAV'D for the awesomeness!

Thankee dude! I am kinda disappointed with a couple technical errors in my singing (some bad timing and a slightly flat note. grr...) but overall I think it turned out pretty good.
I like your lyrics! I think it fits a bit more with the fantasy theme of the game than mine do. But the inspiration for mine seemed to sum up a large part of the game that I recall. I thought of Edgar sitting in his castle in the ruined world, trying to find some words of inspiration for his people and coming up with nothing, except that he loves his country and would defend it to the death, and there has to be a brighter future on the horizon. But to see it, you have to stand strong and not run from what seems like an impossible task. And, of course, he starts to sing it all opera-like because of the opera the heroes crashed. XO3 Random, but I guess it works.
Only one minute of sound recorder, eh? What version of Windows are you using? I'm pretty sure that Vista's lets you record as much as you want. Only problem is they majorly simplified the interface, so it's made rather pointless... Personally, I use free stuff from the internet, like Wavepad and a trial of Mixcraft. More complicated, but more options, more possibilities.

Well, to tell you the truth, I do pretty much everything computerwise from a tiny little acer Eee-pc, roughly 9" wide, loaded with WinXP and a few other basic programs.(I usually type stuff up in wordpad{gods, I'm so ghetto! >.=.<} because I don't even have microsoft word.) The 3.75gig solid-state drive is at about 58% capacity, and I am loath to fill it by much more, due to the fact that I need a certain amount of space free to perform regular disc defrags.(I have pretty much nil when it comes to VP on this thing, so I usually stick to more secure sites, like FA, for example!)
Ah, I see! I had thought of getting one of those for basically the purpose I use my laptop now. Writing in bed and doing email, internet stuff. XO3 GLORIFIED TYPEWRITERS, ALL OF EM. Don't feel bad about the wordpad. I had to use it for a while when my Word decided to randomly crap out on my old computer. It gets the job done
The short answer is... I dunno. Maybe. XO3
I based it on a couple of different versions of Terra's theme, one with a female vocalist providing a harmony, the other from Squaresoft's Piano Collections. I knew that both were a little different than the original in game version, but I didn't really think too much about it at the time that they might have elements of other songs too.
I'd say that given Nobou Uematsu's penchant for taking certain elements within songs to adapting them to fit throughout an entire game's soundtrack, it's not out of the question that there is a bit of Dark World in there somewhere.
... Listening to all of them again I can hear similarities between the rhythmic chords in Dark World and the chords after the intro in my remix. Except the chords in Dark World are a lot... darker. XO3 And if you have a really open mind/ear, I suppose as a whole it does have shades of dark world elsewhere, even unintentionally with the piano's reverb.
Whew...
Oh yes, and thank you! :O3
