For fun I participated in a graphic contest, deciding to 'go full retro' and limit myself to a screen resolution I might have used on my first Amiga 500 computer in 1989, a mere 30 years ago. I worked at a res of 352x256 pixels, 32 colors. Of course the version seen here is scaled up, with a faux-CRT effect so it won't be the same size as its own thumbnail on the site, and give a sense what the image might have looked like on a trusty Commodore 1084S monitor.

The nostalgia hits hard with this one, and a good use of the scanline effect (I was never a fan of it, but it works well here).
Thanks to the retro computing scene, the new hardware being released for old Amigas these days is mindblowing (like MNT's ZZ9000 card for big box Amigas). I can't help but think, "my computer isn't retro, I got it when I could buy it off the store shelves!" Then I think, "oh yeah... that was 30+ years ago."

Very nice work, EWS! I still remember when Retro Gamer Magazine published an article about the animations that you used to make on the Amiga. I still can't decide if it was the Amiga that made Amy the Squirrel look good, or Amy the Squirrel that made the Amiga look good... Either way, she helped convince me to buy two Amigas and zero Atari ST's!
Dont diss the master, boy ;)
Genuine hardware all the way.
Say, Eric? what is your miggy of choice at the moment?
Got myself a T1200-060'50 with ZorroII, Catweasel and a few other nice toys... not capped yet though, I'm not confident enough to do the job myself on such valuable hardware, but at the same time I dont trust anyone else to do the capacitors either, especially the one on that accellerator <_<

Its just a pity that A500/A2000 NICs are so expensive, given an A600, because of its PCMCIA slot is cheap to get on Fibre Net, that IRC and other such text social media is easily handled, but once you get to A1200 030, you can stream audio over the net because it takes so little power.
Even better with A1200/030 50Mhz is watching a full screen Jpeg decode ina couple of seconds. Then realising a modern GPU is a million times more powerful.
Or a top end Nvidia GPU is only 5 times faster at screen slicing than AGA.
Or a 1084S on a A1200 can be driven at 1440*588*HAM8.
Remember the good old days when Moviesetter based Plight Of The Artist could run on a bog standard A500+, if you managed to get All 8 Meg Fast on it as well as the 2 Meg chip?
These days, 10 Meg on an IoT 240 Mhz microcontroller can just about get you a thermostat controller.
