Ahh my first car, a 1970 245 Volvo with a 4 speed stick and B20B engine equip with dual Stromberg side-draft carburettors.
This car took me through the last months of High School, Tech School and Pizza delivery. She was a great car, tough and pretty reliable for her age. At the point shown here I had 'blacked out' most of the chrome with a wonderful black. It suffered from many, many winters of road salt. The cars early unibody design, while strong and safe, wasn't well sealed. Salt had entered over her life and in many places she was swiss cheese.
The engine was mechanically noisy and choked by the carburettors.
Anyone who has suffered through a car with Zenith Stromberg 175CD side-drafts knows what I'm talking about.
Cold starts? Fuhgetabout it!
Hot starts? Fuhgetabout it!
Warm starts? Fuhgetabout it!
Idle quality? Fuhgetabout it!
Fuel milage? Fuhgetabout it!
Throttle responsiveness? Fuhgetabout it!

There was a Weber side-draft aftermarket setup for this engine from IPD, but I could not afford it which would have solved all these issues.
I sorta miss the simplicity of this car. The radio was the most complicated item.
The last time I saw this car was in a co-workers back yard, early 90's I think. She's LONG gone.

Here’s what it looks like.

It would be pretty difficult to get them all set up correctly as the triple Weber setup on the Chrysler Valiant Charger was quite difficult to balance.

restroations of these oldies isint a uncomon thing, as i met many that with ease can start tear em to atoms and for just rust repairs, as they far often lived a hard life but oddly even if they are thursty and tricky to go perfect they never really straight up failed on you, those that did often had been very badly maintained, and the 2.0 ones was popular to tune and wasint to hard to make em go like rockets.
Need to up it up with a 240 turbo to replace the Bi 21 to a B 23 F Turbo. While at it, step up the rims too and maybe drop the newer 240 seats, maybe electric, same with the mirrors, add power mirrors too. End with a nice heavy trailer hitch to wiegh the rear down and give you nice traction.
