Haven't made a full painting in a while, so I figured I'd give it a try with my favorite blue hedgehog. There'll be a few more like this coming~
Tails liked to think he was a pretty smart fox, and most of the time this was true. His inventions were amazing, and no matter what the odds were he could stand with his friends and face whatever foes popped up. He was an ace pilot, finder of quick solutions, and probably the best mechanic on the entire island.
And yet, despite all of that, he was now half an inch tall and standing in his best friend’s smelly shoe, holding a busted shrink ray.
“Oh man…” Tails moaned as he kept trying to fiddle with the device. It was no good, the thing was broke. He’d need to get back to his lab to find the parts needed to fix it, and with things the way they were that didn’t seem too likely.
This plan had sounded so rational at the start. He had the shrink ray invented for when he needed to make really fine adjustments on any of his inventions. It seemed only natural to prank Sonic by hiding somewhere then jumping out at him while sudden growing back to normal size. Except he hadn’t accounted for the draft in Sonic’s room and had flown off course, slammed into the wall, broke the machine, sprained one of his tails and tumbled right into Sonic’s shoe.
The small fox looked up from the sneaker as he felt the ground shake. “I hope that isn’t what I think it is.”
A couple minutes later and Sonic stepped out of his home, perky, spiked, and ready for the day. The hedgehog took a deep breath of the fresh morning air, filling his lungs with the fresh smell of blooming flowers and trees. “That’s what I’m talking about,” he said with a grin.
He took another step out of his house when he felt something small under his sole. It wasn’t a big object, probably just one of the thousands of stones he stepped on each stay. Still, it was kind of annoying. “Aw man, I think there’s a pebble in my shoe,” the hedgehog muttered as he tapped his toe on the ground, hoping to shake it loose. No luck, the thing was still right under his sole.
The hedgehog kneeled down to unbuckle his sneaker when he heard something in the distance. Glancing up, he saw the bright flash of an explosion and heard the unmistakable sound of metallic whirring.
He sighed to himself. “Guess Eggheads starting early today. Probably a joke about omelets in that.” He stood back up. “Sorry pebble, looks like you’re staying there for a little bit longer.” He shook his head as he looked back towards the fighting. “That’s gonna be real annoying for the next couple miles.” He then shrugged. “But what can you do?” Without another thought to the little rock, he blasted off towards the fighting, his day only just beginning.
