The Rengar tribe valued strength. It was a warrior society, where both males and females were expected to follow this culture of ferocity. Chieftains were not elected, nor was it a position passed by blood. Chieftain hopefuls and candidates were forced to compete in a brutal fight to the death to earn the title.

Dominic was not exempt from this. Even as the son of a former Chieftain. Without hesitation, he identified himself as a contender for the role of Chieftain. He entered into an arena with 4 other equines, each from reputable families. Some even old friends of his. What followed was a brutal, exhausting fight between the 5 unarmed equines. Each fought tooth and nail, and all were left bloody by the event. However, Dominic prevailed, and was the last equine standing.

To the surprise of everyone however, Dominic did not execute his fellow combatants. Instead, he spared them, setting an example of the kind of leadership, and legacy he intended to provide. He promised his people peace. He promised his people glory. He made a solem vow to them, and spoke from his heart. His people rejoiced and welcomed their new Chieftain, the promised son himself.
