This fledging owl has left the nest but he's not quote ready for independence. He'll be take flight soon as he's ready.
(He's not happy, but I'm using my zoom and staying away. Last thing I want is to make him become too accustomed to people)
Currently he's perched higher up on the inside wall of of this sheltered area. There are 3 other owlets still in the hayloft.

As cool as it would be to "befriend" the owls in a more personal way, and make them my buddies and such... that's a heck of a disservice to them. While I won't harm them, too many other people would.
Besides, I do not want to annoy my wonderful vermin control squad to the point where they leave. By not using that old barn, I'm being the biggest friend I can be.

I used to live with a raptor rehabber. After about day 6, it's impossible to imprint them, so don't worry too much about them getting too chummy with humans because of your presence. It's in their programming. After the cutoff day, they will be suspicious and hostile towards humans their whole life, no matter how nice you are to them, which is just as it should be.
