============================
Featherstep's whisker's twitched, the sunlight tickling them. Her Lavender eyes captured their rays and held them captive in their deep pools. She could smell it... the taste of the crisp air flowing into her mouth. She could scent the tang of fresh leaves and the dusty bark. It was calling her.
The birds chirpped somewhere just beyond, urging her paws to move forward, almost by instinct. She reached out and took her first step into the soft grass and jerked back, surprised by the contrast from the smooth, cold metal surface of the cage she'd grown accustomed to. Voices murmured over her. The strange, naked, two legged creatures had brought her here for what- she had no idea, but their voices were soft and non-threatening. Very much unlike the other Two-leg which had kept her and fed her before they took her away and to... here.
But, what was this place? She felt as if she had faint memories. From when she was a kit, her mother's warm belly and the same scent of fresh leaves and crisp air. Whispers. She heard them calling her. Pulling her... another pawstep. Had she taken that one on her own? She felt as if something was moving her, pulling her forward beyond her control. The voices of the Two-leg creatures faded, they'd moved back and she took the opportunity to creep out of the metal cave she'd been in and look around, back at them. They seemed happy, not like they were about to try to catch her and stuff her back into the cold smooth cave. No- she couldn't go back in there she'd decided, though coming as a bit of a surprise to her. SOMETHING was calling her.
The whispers came again. Faint, indistinguishable, but she knew they were for her. She felt the tug at her heart. "come" they whispered. Her whiskers twitched, she took one last look at the Two-legged creatures and before she could control it, her powerful legs began to bound. Racing, bolting through the field and into the trees, feeling the warm sun brush her pelt as the wind traced its fingers through her fur. FREE.
