Can't overstate how much I've loved your symbiote design and getting to see it under so many different contexts and setups!
And I follow you on rejection at face value being more of an uncomfortable situation to imagine. Honesty, the first thing to my mind with setting up rejection in a more fun way is to just portray some slice of life situation that involves a mundane disagreement while host and symbiote are partially paired. Like not agreeing to their taste in movies or dinner reservations.
