This's an image I've had planned for awhile, of the two main characters from 'Cruelty'. It was partially painting practice (I'm really, REALLY trying to improve at traditional media), but mostly. . . I just had this scene in mind, and HAD to put it to paper. Eight year-old Reis and Marcus beg to be drawn more.
This was a monumental effort of time. . . because to be frank. . . I am ill-experienced with paint. I'm disappointed with the way it scanned, but. . . I always am, when it comes to traditional media.
I'm going to be auctioning this piece, to help fund printing costs for the comic. I'm self-publishing, since it's so short. . . but I've never done it before, so . . . it's gonna be an adventure.

Stout as in...stout. Wide. Thick.
I think its a natural consequence of painting over the line. With a sketch, the line forms the border of the object. That border starts, for the eye, on the inside edge of the line. When you paint over sketch, you're moving the border to the outside of the line. So figures end up slightly thicker.

Hopefully by self-publishing you don't mean you're going to feed the comic to one of those predatory vanity publishers or anything.
But anyway, this looks gorgeous here, so I can only imagine how stunning it must be in real life (scanners eat things, I know.) It's very heartfelt; I see all sorts of love went into this whole setting.

That wouldn't make a difference, since you hold the pad with both hands the same way...
But still, buttons on the center-top are like the worst place to place them.
It's a common thing, i've noticed - some artists don't really look how some of the props really look and make some errors ;)

Marcis looks so cute in this picture. I didn't realize Reis was asleep in this picture at first, but then again I can't fall asleep like that unless I'm really, really tired or I've gone two nights without sleep and then take heavy duty pain killer (there's a legal story behind that). Marcus has about the same sleeping position I do.
I think this came out really well. All the folds, wrinkles, and bumps in the fabris and the couch look really nice, and I've always loved the way you do fur. And I haven't even mentioned the lighting yet. This is a really cute scene, and a really nice painting. It's amazing how artists are always their harshest critics, but that just pushes us to always be doing better.

Reis: *wakes up and drools* Oh, its really greating late. *yawn* Hey Marcus, I think *turns head to Marcus* we should.....
Marcus: *snoring softly in the pillow*
Reis: Hehe...I might as well go to bed. *thinking* "I wonder if those ears are soft enough to lay on?" *rolls over to Marcus*
Marcus: Don't even think about it. *looks at Reis calmly*
Reis: *laughs and falls asleep next to Marcus*
=)

Lovely. I like the fur work, but the texture of the upholstery and wall is nice too. Of course, I notice odd things sometimes.
ah to be so young and sweet again ...also, being able to fall asleep sitting up like that and not wake up with a nearly paralyzing crick in my neck would be nice too :)

So have you seen it? And what kind of controller is that? If Cruelty is set in modern days, and MArcus and Reis are just getting outta highschool, than this was around late 1990's, maybe early 2000's. Everyone thinks it's a Genesis controller. One person suggested that you purposefully drew it to not look like any particular system controller so, and I quote, "no one would know what kind if system they were playing, and to prevent fanboy bitch fests over the internet." That line had me laughing my ass off. Yoiu gotta go over there and straighten their dumb asses out.
