most of the time it starts out slow and gives early warning with thunder sounds, but yeah, there are times it just pours heavily all of a sudden

Sounds interesting. In my homeland, thunderclap is a warning of hail in Winter.

no hails nor snow here in the Philippines ^^ so either really scorching heat or heavy rainstorms. or sometimes light drizzles that just lets heat leak out from the ground

I am glad that you love those very classical tennis shoes. They are of the late 70s and the very early 80s. As they were not high tech sneakers, I used to have blisters. > <;
