These shorter days of silence
I must weather as a stone
Providing my own guidance
All one can do all alone
But I hear pleasant chirping
Through cracks in my brittle shell
This vibrant feeling stirring
Seems to break my quiet spell
Eyes open, friends surrounding
Were they here while I had rest?
Their chirping is resounding
In my cozy forest nest
The icy chill of winter
Feathers full of bitter air
I feel my spirit sinter
With your simple touch of care
This dawn is so much brighter
The days feel long at last
My burden so much lighter
The night far in my past
Though winter has not ended
We still wait for spring anew
This day I know is splendid
I feel warmth when here with you
