This time around I had found an editor! The awesome Billiard No-17!
The artwork was done by
Jadan - Ya'll better commission from him, or I will hide Shazike in your closet tonight.
Trying out with longer writings for these, since the action is slowing down a little bit. Tell me what you all think! And if I should keep up the longer stuff, or even do more :3
Limp, wince, repeat. Limp, wince, repeat. With every footfall, and my leg feels like it's on fire! But we are almost there... I think... The mountains aren’t the best option, but it was all I could come up with at a moment's notice. They will offer better cover than the crumbling buildings, at least. I hope more of those human planes don't show up... Limp, wince, repeat...
I can't take this anymore..! Cupping my hands carefully around the creature in my grasp, and I fumble down with a thump. I fell on my side, sending another jolt of pain coursing through me. Thankfully, my armor took most of the impact. I didn't immediately concern myself with this. Instead, I let my hand open a crack and saw the man still stable. Awash with relief, I finally let my hand down. It must have been a bumpy ride, and my arms were shaking like leaves as I settled him on the grass.
With him on solid ground and far enough that I couldn’t hurt him accidentally... I took a pained look at my leg. It was as bloody as I expected. Was this some kind of weird primitive weapon..? Just impale your enemies with metal? I guess it was a good deterrent for giants if nothing else... Giants like me... By the stars, did this creature think I was some sort of monster? With a whimper, I knew what I had to do... With no bandages, I had only one option... Cauterization... Just to stop the bleeding...
A welding tool. That's all I had... No rifle, no pistol, just the flimsy low-power welder hanging from my belt. I bit down on my own hand to muffle a scream. Pushing aside my armor to have a better look, the sight left me light-headed. But it was hardly to the time to faint, lest I not wake up. I might not be able to save the... Whimpering with my face in my hands, I did what I had to do...
I am far from a soldier... I am a ship’s engineer, barely qualified for any type of service on a battlefield! In the last few hours, I've seen more action than the past seven years of my career! Part of me wanted to speak, talk aloud, to think that someone would be there to listen. But there was no one. Even if the little creature woke up, I-...
Creature? No, no, no, no... This was a person, right..? They think like us, even if they are small. Man? Should I call him that? Not like I could ask for his name or gender… How about Pippy? That could be his name for now... I found myself chuckling softly. Even with the pain, I was trying to keep my head clear! I don’t think I wasn't as quiet as I had hoped. A glance back to the human to reaffirm that he was safe left me looking at his terrified face...
How long had he been awake? Had he seen me... 'repair' myself? Heh... I spoke aloud, asking if he was alright. But a shrieking buzz filled my ear. I yanked my headset off with a jerking motion, causing poor Pippy to stiffen and shift back. I almost went to apologize, putting my hand up in a sheepish fashion. It didn’t seem to help. Sorry, little Pippy...
Pippy's leg looked horrible, I wish there was something I could do. Something tells me he doesn't have a magical 'leg-fixer' in his pocket for something like this... What is Pippy gesturing at? His leg? I know there is a bit of an issue with it but... With a tilt of my head, I inched over, the man once more shifting uncomfortably. Maybe... It's probably a stupid idea... But I doubt we’ll find help soon... Perhaps I could try cauterizing his wound as well...?
As I got closer, he started waving frantically, scooting further back. Raising up my palms as disarmingly as I could, I looked down at his leg. It was bloody, twisted far beyond what I figured was normal for legs like his. After several moments of silence, I slowly would bring my hand down. Pippy was terrified when I settled my hand beside him. I crossed my thumb over his lap and sighed.
"I have steady hands, and you'll bleed out if I don't try anything. Something. Can you understand me...?"
Of course, he didn't. But either out of fear or some partial understanding that I was trying to help, he let me try.
. . . I should have figured it was a bad idea.

Really good for the sequels Alice could do a little brace for the human's leg ++++ Alice runs into a dead lizard and some dead humans she spits on the lizard and finds a radio on the lizard and helps bury the
humans dead.
++++ Alice takes the human and places the human in his fur to warm him up for the night.

Don't know if you've considered the idea or if you have one, but I would absolutely subscribe to a patreon if it helps you along.
I don't know how dedicated you are to the project, but I don't think your writing would be improving nearly as quickly as it has if you weren't at least a little invested.

Great Story Piershey! Altough I'm a big fan of the war stories I got to say that this story is pretty touching on itself, it's not all about the boom boom but rather about what happens on the middle, it feels nice to see stories like this, Great work :)
Can't wait to see what happens next!

"I should have figured it was a bad idea."
It already is a bad idea to use a welder on a 'normal-sized' person, let alone someone ten times smaller than you. You will burn him alive! XD
On a side note, wonderful continuation of the story :3 It makes me want to see what happens next desperately!

great stories, I don't know if there is already a sequel, I can't wait to read it. but unfortunately, as with the original story that you were inspired by, the errors of translation in French by google, diminished the pleasure of reading the stories in English
superbe histoires, je sais pas si il y a deja une suite, mes j'ai hate de la lire. mais malheuresement, comme avec l'histoire originel que vous vous éte inspirée, les erreur de traduction en françai par google, diminu le plaisir de lire les histoire en anglai
