The wilds are perilous, but that doesn't stop a few intrepid individuals from making their homes here. Such is the case with this fellow, a druid who set up in the base of a large tree, likely magical of some kind. Unfortunately he found out one of the dangers of living in the wilderness when he was attacked by a group of bandits.
That's when I came in. Venturing through the forest, I was lucky enough to be there when the outlaws made their attack, and fought them off to protect both the forest and the druid. It was an easy enough battle - bandits are rarely a danger to an experienced warrior, often relying more on scare tactics than actual combat skill. Following the battle, the druid took me in, tending to my wounds and easing my weariness. I spent a good amount of time there, and the two of us became good friends. Of course, though most of my wounds closed and healed over with the use of the druid's magic and salves, no matter what he did, one of them refused to go away. I told him it wouldn't.
And then, before long, the road called to me again...

Without medicine it is difficult to live in a cruel and ruthless world, especially if you are a warrior or a soldier, because where there is bloodshed without medicine otherwise you cannot survive. And in truth those who save the lives of their own and others' soldiers or warriors in the name of the craft of medicine are the best heroes there are in a harsh and ruthless world.
