one of the aspects of berry stuff i really enjoy is sort of the imminence of it
like once you start transforming, there is nothing you can do to change it
the dread of an apocalyptic scenario introducing this layer of helpless upon an already desolate situation fills me with an intense and visceral reaction, one where i cannot help but hope that the horror happening in front of me doesn't end in a way that is conducive to anything like a good ending - the relinquishment of ones bodily autonomy (ie walking around on your own legs, being able to manipulate the world with your own hands) from circumstances beyond ones control is such a horrifying and dread-lined concept and i cannot help but enjoy it. how dreadful it would be to know that by the hour your body is transforming and changing, swelling and bloating as your own ability to meaningfully interact with whatever remains of the functioning world is slowly taken from you.
