This is my translation of a song by Russian folk group Melnitsa (The Mill) called "Nevesta poloza" (Snake's bride).
I think I did pretty well. Also, it was done a *while* ago, just to let one my non-Russian friend to get an idea.
Translation notes: snakes in question are likely meant non-poisonous, like grass-snakes, based on all the references to them in Russian folklore, so "viper" in alt translation of second verse isn't too precise.
I think the main inspiration for the song is Urals tales, like Bazhov's collection -- the most famous of which is The Stone Flower, made into the ballet by Prokofiev.
